A few weeks had passed since the miscarriage incident with Hennery and Michael. Jim had told Michael how he had managed to get him to see that his hatred was wrong. It wound up working so well the little bears mom wound up finding the courage to divorce his asshole dad. Michael was happy to hear that, but a part of him was still empty and sad.
Hennery decided to come by one afternoon. He had been working on a little craft project in school incase the baby survived, a little patchwork quilt with pretty green and blue colors. he came up to the door and knocked hoping someone was home. Michael opened the door giving the little bear a startle.
"Oh uh hi there Mr. Michael" hennery said a little nervously with a smile.
"H-hey hennery" Michael replied with an awkward smile.
"Mind if I come in?"
"S-sure" the wolf nodded and stepped aside letting the young bear come in closing the door. Michael felt a little apprehension letting him in. "W-what brings you here little hennery?"
"I uh..." He took a sigh "I wanted to say I'm sorry for the way I acted. I blame my dad really. your husband Jim helped me see you guys are nice furs and I wanted to give your new son a gift!"
"A-a gift?" Michael choked softly
"Yeah!" hennery said excitedly and handed him the quilt.
Michael's heart melted at the gift. he looked at the little bears and hyena patterns and admired how nice it felt. He really admired the gift and put a paw on it sadly tearing up and collapsing to his knees. Hennery looked surprised at his reaction and asked curiously "Do you like it?"
"I love it" Michael said. "It's incredible...it's just...I.. no longer have a baby to wrap it up in"
Hennery's eyes widened in shock as he slowly processed what he was, or wasn't saying. his jaw dropped in absolute horror as he realized what must of happened because of him. The snow ball he threw must've caused him to miscarry.
"Oh no" hennery choked out at the realization before running over hugging Michael, and bursting into tears. The wolf wrapped an arm around him crying with the bear. It took Michael a shorter time to calm down as he whipped his nose he picked up the little bear and brought him to the living room and sat down comforting him as his maternal instinct took over.
"Shhh It's ok" Michael says comforting him.
"N-no...I-its nooot..I...killed a baby boy that wasn't even born" hennery cried shaking. "I did a very horrible thing" he said in a crying squeak.
"Oh honey" Michael said softly. The wolf just held the bear boy close and rocked him gently as if he were his own son.
Michael could feel and hear the pain hennery was in, and remembered something he'd read in his harry potter books. How remorse was a painful and painful emotion. He looked at the little bear empathetically and just hummed a little lullaby. that seemed to calm him down as the bear whipped his eyes on Michael's shirt.
"M-my mom sang that to me all the time" hennery said sadly.
Michael nodded and smile "I sang it all the time to my kids when they went to bed or if they were sad"
"T-t-thank you...c-could you ever for give me?" the bear boy asked looking at Michael.
"Of course I could...I forgive you lil bear." Michael said hugging him softly. "You did a bad thing, but Jim told me about you and how your mom is divorcing your father, and how bad he was to you, and I said if you came by and showed me you were sorry like you did I would give you a chance."
Hennery nodded whipping his eyes "Yeah...mom always said you two were good furs and always nice to her"
Michael nodded remembering the walks he'd take with Jim and his kids and how she'd always greet them happily.
"Yeah...and..."Michael paused. "We talked it over with our kids, if you promise to be good from now on, you can come over when ever you want as part of our family."
Hennery's eyes lit up like a boy seeing Santa Claus for the first time. "I'd like that.."
Michael laid on the hospital bed with a smile holding the little hyena bundle in his arms while surrounded by everyone. Jim smiled looking at the little guy and wagged. "he's a real heartbreaker"
"He really is" Michael smiled.
Hennery bear looked at the little guy and smiled warmly "He's perfect! what's his name?" he asked eagerly.
Michael looked at Jim, then back to hennery. "Hennery...or lil Hennery"
Hennery bear looked at the lil hyena and smiled. the identical names would be confusing but for the moment, the little bear couldn't think of a better name if he tried
