I have kept doing a little bit of this picture at break and lunch at work for the past six months and now looking at this and I still haven't figured out what if anything should be on the area behind her ( this pic has been cut down to show just her and not the big blank area behind her) SO I post her here to let you all see the work as it is at this point

It is amusing how small the difference between a 6 month piece, and a 35 minute piece, at least in terms of how delightful they both are :)

I don't think a background can be chosen until her story is known.

She looks singed/melted. She is, or has been, crying. Her pose is not active, but a little pensive. She is looking at something beside or perhaps behind her: her ears are cocked backwards.

Perhaps she is sad because she is damaged, and her programming tells her that she must be recycled: she is walking towards her doom and taking one last look at her freedom and those she loves.

Perhaps she is recovering from a round in a fighting ring, and is about to face another bout.

Perhaps she is just crying because her owner treats her badly, but is cocking an ear to hear an exchange of money as she is sold... perhaps this bodes well for her future? To whom is she being sold?

Perhaps she is standing over the fallen body of a flamer-armed attacker, and is looking back at the child she has defended?

Along with the above ideas, perhaps she could be at some kind of chemical plant or the scene of a spill, or the ruins of a current modern city.

She looks like she's been in some kinda hectic battle so perhaps some flaming wreckage behind her?
