I started working on the Brina comic. This is not the first page, but it's a page that works well as an introduction of the characters.
I'm unsure about what colors to use since I will have to stick with them for the rest of the comic. Tapirs are brown. And possums kind of grey. So I guess that will be it for the characters.
I'm tempted to leave it black and white.
Or maybe have a limited palette of colors for this comic.
I could also use different color schemes when the comic jumps from the present, with them as teenagers and flashbacks with them as children.
A lot of the story will follow that pattern. They met at school very young and continued to be friends for years.
I keep forgetting to draw Brina's earrings and I have to put them later in photoshop In real life I HATE piercings, but they are part of the character as a rebellious teenager into metal.
It's funny how the characters you create become alive and run in different ways that you intended. Originally Brina was going to be the protagonist and narrator of the story. But as I started writing, Mazz became the narrator. Brina is still the center of the story, but we'll see it thought Mazz's point of view.
I guess it's because he is closer to me in personality. He is kind of nerdy and has low self-esteem. He is too shy to admit he is in love with her.
I also made him chubby because it fits with today's culture. When I was his age, it was the opposite, I was a bullied outcast for being the skinny kid in class. Being a little fat (but not obese) was considered a sign of good health. Today standards are somehow different, so Mazz is the shy fat kid.
