There's a site called Hero Forge where you can make your own custom miniatures. So, I was messing around with it and got inspired to make a rat bard.

I mean, D&D bards can work a lot like FF red mages.

just saying the outfit looks a lot RDM like, especially the XI version.

"Red Mage" was just the copyright friendly name they chose for Bard in Final Fantasy 1, remember that FF1 had a distinctly Dungeons and Dragons ruleset [and many iconic monsters, however badly translated]

Red Mage is also a class in FFXI,  an MMORPG where the special class specific outfit looks a Lot like this.

Red Mages have existed throughout the series, and while distinct from the Bard class in the Final Fantasy games, they still share a lot of similarities with the D&D Bard class. I've actually partially leveled the Red Mage class in FF14, though currently all I'm actively playing is Summoner/Scholar, Dark Knight, and Dancer.

Especially the spell slots! Which they swapped for the more familiar MP system in some rereleases (I played both the original NES version and the GBA Dawn of Souls rerelease... I've still never quite finished FF2 even though I started it up as a translated NES ROM, the GBA Dawn of Souls version, AND the Android port with the crappy font).

2 Just doesn't hold my interest for some reason, but maaaan I appreciated the swap to MP for 1 in that remake, I loved the D&D-esqueness of spell slots but they're a pain in the ass in D&D, much less in a video game where I'm expected to be casting nigh upon all the time.

That is a handsome fella, does he need a... hmm I guess bards don't have squires, a young lad in search of adventure who is good at polishing instruments?

A young lad with a pure voice would be just the thing for romantic duets to attract paying audiences while learning the trade. It was the norm in eras past that a young boy would play the roles of females, as acting was not considered acceptable for ladies (whether they were ladies or not).

Bards are fantastic, one of my all-time favorite character classes (right along with the Final Fantasy red mage and the Dragon Quest armamentalist...)
