Well, who says every mermaid has to be our standard beauty?

Predecessor of Alyrianna, Aquanot (yes, really the name she got tagged with) is a mermaid with natural defenses that still retain an alien quality of beauty. Barbed crown to keep the head from being bitten, claws and spiky fins for the same. Antennae that glow faintly to lure in prey or startle predators. Flat tendril like strands of 'hair' that detect bio-electricity in the water around her like a shark's nose. Gills and no nose. Why no nose? Because nostrils made no sense in the water to me IMHO.
