Tox and Pierre are Madeline’s twin sons. When they were about four years old, Madeline and her ex-boyfriend had a custody battle that her ex easily won. At the time she was young, naive and unemployed, the court decided she could not care for her children properly. He took them with him and his new partner to another city far away. The separation was traumatic for them all, but especially for Trey, who was very close to his mother.
After their father moved them away Trey began to distance himself from the family his father and his father’s new wife were trying to build. He refused to listen to anything they told him. The trauma from losing his mother made him bitter and angry at them, rebelling against them constantly and becoming a problem child. His brother Pierre on the other hand, adapted much faster and easier to their new dynamic, even though he still holds complicated feelings toward their father and stepmother. People constantly compare the two, Trey is dubbed the “bad” twin and Pierre the “good” twin. The two brothers love each other regardless, and never let other peoples’ opinions change how they view and love one another.
