Back in 2011, I made a quick little game aimed at mature audiences called No Eat. It was basically a shitpost for a game dev contest made as a shitpost, and yet it turned out to be one of my best-made, best-designed, and best-received works ever.
However, the game's NSFW nature (main character's nutsack being visible for 90% of the game, second character's nipples visible in the end cutscene) meant a large swath of my vore fandom acquaintances wouldn't play it so I immediately began a project of self-censorship (and also an excuse to replace some of the borrowed assets with fully original ones).
This...took forever not because of how much work there was to do, but for how demoralizing it was to remove the sexiness from my own work. This game and the success it brought made me realize that I'm at my happiest when I'm being raunchy and romantic, not trying to pander to general audiences.
