Lethal intoxication, is an unnatural cause of human death, often confused with drug overdose. That's what happened to Ray as well, who bite off more than he could chew.

Ray, has been receiving heavy medication due to his knee injury. Use of painkillers and drugs, had become a recent habit of him. Soon enough, drug use would become drug abuse and addiction.

That day, Ray retured home exhausted and in pain. He was furious about something, and due to high pulse and accelerated breathing, his nose started bleeding once he entered his house.
He didn't pay attention to it though, as all he had in mind, were his painkillers. He rushed in, opened the drawer and reached for his medicines.
He took them out and emptied the packages on his brother's beg. Immediately, he stood up and walked to the kitchen, leaving a tray of blood trail behind him.

In that specific room, there was a cupboard filled with alcoholic drinks. He opened it, grabbed one and headed back to the bedroom, where he sipped down the whole bottle accompanied by pills.
One sip, one pill. One succeeded the other, until there were no more. Afterwards, he pushed everything away, took off his clothing and laid on Liam's bed.
Suddenly, a cold shiver ran down his spine, and had to somehow warm himself. So, he pulled his limbs closer to his torso, but with no result.

Having thrown the pillow away as well, he puts his tail between his thighs and gets comfortable for the last time. His face calm, yet eyes wide opened. Everyone seeks for a pleasant death, until there is no escaping.
Fear occupies his already troubled mind, and slowly fades away. His stare, lifeless and distantĪ‡ his body, getting colder and stiff by time's passing. Sick and tired of his living conditions, he recklessly decided to end his life.
A choice, he so hastily made and instantly regretted.

I wonder how Liam will react to Ray's death, don't you?

I doubt that Ray had told Liam how much pain that he in for so long. When Ray's doctor put him on those painkillers, s/he did not emphasize to Ray that he should never mix these painkillers with alcohol.

Ray's doctor should have monitored him more intensely.  The doctor should also have looked into alternatives to the painkillers that s/he gave to Ray. Painkillers in general are never intended for long-term continuous use.
