"Daddy...? Connor...?" The small kitten asked from the corner. Her brother stood infront of her, a backpack in his hand. The backpack held all of Courtneys clothes.
"Just stay there, Courtney." Connor growled.
"Damn it, boy! Move it, you wan' your family to starve?!" His father yelled. Connor held his ground.
"I don't care what happens, but I will not let you hurt her!" Courtney looked between teh two. Her father, a head taller than her brother was an intimidating dark brown tabby. Connor was light brown with stripes of black on his body. He was lanky but had some muscles. Connor wasn't Trevors son. Connor was the son of some one who their mother had serviced. Said woman was laying on the ratty stained couch ina drugged stupor, the needle on the floor. Courtney was teh only child Trevor and Natalie were able to concieve, all the others were still-born or miscarages. Because of her mother drug problems during the pregnancy and poor nutrition, Courtney stood at one foot tall. Connor, being the only one not an addict to something, had stolen different clothes from stores, all of them doll clothes. She was that small and he didn't know how to sow. Courtney huddled in the corner, holding her Baby Doll close. It was teh only thing she cared about besides her brother. The dolls eyes were mis-matched buttons, teh ears having been shabbily sown on by Connor when they tore.
Connor glanced back at Courtney yelped, because of accidently poking a splinter. Trevor took this chance to punch his bastard son in the jaw, sending him down to the ground. Courtney screamed as he fell before scurrying over to him.
"Connor! Connor!"
Connor couch and rubbed his jaw. Trevor walked over and made a grab for the tiny kittens ponytail. Connor reach up and smacked his hand away, swinging his legsand tripping the bastard. Trevor fell down with a wave of cursing. Connor got up, his jaw badly bruised.
"Come on, Courtney!" He said urgently, picking up teh back pack and his sister and running from the run down apartment. Courtney held on as her brother flew down the stares and ran down the street. Courtney had on only her nightgown, teh cold december wind biting at her skin. Connor held her close and turned a corner.
Connor was not paying attention to where he stepped, teh next corner was paved in ice. Connor went falling down, thinking fast enough to twist so Courtney would fall ontop of him. Courtney held onto his shirt, bouncing slightly at the impact. Connor slid into the street, the wind knocked from his lungs. He lay there, gasping to gain more air when two figures stood over him. Courtney looked up and froze. It was a large panther and a hedgehog. The panthers yellow eyes seemed to glow with evil. The hedgehog looked down at her. his lower face hidden by the collar of his red trench-coat. His hair was long and white, tied back into a braid. Two bangs framed his face down to his shoulders. Courtney cuddled closer to Connors chest, hiding from his magenta eyes.
"And Trevor failed again..." the hedgehog grummbled, "collect teh girl, leave the boy." The panther nodded and bent down, pulling Courtney from Connors chest.
Courtney screamed and thrashed around, trying to be put down. The hedgehog looked closly at her, cupping her chin and making her look at him. He smirked, "she'll be perfect. In the car." He said, nodding towards teh limo. The panther carried her to the sleek black car and through her int he back. Courtney bounced off the wall and hit the floor, seeing an explotion of stars in her eyes.
Connor groaned and reached over, grabbing the hedgehogs ankle while he turned to walk away. "Y-you're not t-taking her..!" He growled The hedgehog looked down and smiled.
"My boy, you're welcome to come see her again, for an entrance price of fifty dollars." The hedgeog pulled his leg free and climbed into the limo. Connor managed to get on his knees and hands, "C-Courtney..."
"Connor!" Courtney screamed as teh door closed.
