This is Krozyre Tsarah, the male Tsarah Novaninjian. He has been planned for awhile but after some deliberation, I decided to make him a Crosarah or based on a Crocodile. This image isn't complete as it's just me showing a new painting strategy I started employing recently, where I flat paint every color manually, then shade each body part on it's own. I actually like this strategy better as it gives me more freedom to update my art without being forced to rely on the lines I draw and I no longer need to be "perfect", I can just eyeball any changes I need to make. (So you can imagine for example, his chest and soles are all just a flat blob of red or purple, the shading is what gives it depth. I haven't shaded his head yet and the background...I still suck at backgrounds, but with this new technique, I can just add more to the piece as I need (I drew the water over his heels later on it's own layer.)
I'll be finishing this piece eventually, need to shade his head and draw a better background. Just uploading this for now as a check point cause I'm finding myself drawing new stuff and working on each piece little by little.
Also, you may notice a lack of arms. I've redesigned the Starmaninjians to have ghostly shadow arms that can take the form they need. Kind of inspired by characters like Rayman, it allows me to draw the hands doing whatever I need them to do without worrying about the arm perspective. It'll also make 3D modeling easier. This doesn't mean I have to redraw every Star though, as there is a point in the story where they get this design later. Plus they can always make these arms look like regular arms all the same. Just gives me more freedom to draw them as I need to and not worry of their physical limitations or have to compromise.
