With this page I'm finally able to give the comic a proper summary.
A detective by day, dancer by night, inundated by the stress of the death of her father. Corruption lies not only within the ranks, but within her in times of perceived desperation. Holding someone to higher standards doesn't change the fact that, as the saying goes, we're only human.
I'm very interested in exploring the corruption of ideals that we hold with high regard, while keeping in within realistic boundaries. People often see police as do-no-wrong... But we're only human. We're subject to the same temptations as every other person, and because we're not clones of a perfect person with perfect morals, we don't always make the best choices.
Jonesy is an example of this. The corruption of her department is not visible up front. Her own corruption is one that has gray areas of logic and morality. It's not one spawned out of greed, but perceived desperation.
She's going against protocol by leaking case facts to someone she doesn't know very well. She's being overworked and not granted any leave from her father's death. Did you know this happens in real life? She's falling apart and it shows. Not dealing with the mental issues that spawn from the job, whether it be the death of a loved one or otherwise, is going to affect performance in ways that aren't always visible. It is a huge issue in both the military and law enforcement that I hope to impact in the future.
