the question id ask is whats the point in sky diving for an alicorn, for earth ponies and unicorns i could see it, it gives them the thrill of flight for a breif moment...but if celestia and luna wanted to do this they could have just flown up to a cloud locked there wings and jumped then opend there wings at the last second...same basic expereince

Even with the wings bound a teleport spell to a bed or pillow would help. and Celestia has used a float spell a few times I think. Luna is likely in that fear state where the answer is easy but you don't see it being scared in an unusual situation

There is a follow up or variation to to this one by Frist44 on e621 that's funny. Shows the wings sort of bound by the parachute. Bikinis and skydiving don't always mix. Luna is embarrassed but doesn't seem upset at what happens.
