Can sometimes come across as a bit unhinged, but is frequently thinking six steps ahead of herself.

Background/History
Barida was born on Avalon in a familial hatchery into a large pack. She had her first augmentation, a Nexus interface system, installed very young, and quickly found herself in a fast love of altered reality and the quick access she had to the grand collection of information found on the network. She focused much of her childhood on learning the ins and outs of cyber reality, everything from creating applications and custom interface modifications to reverse engineering existing tools and even accessing and altering the Nexus links of others remotely. Thanks to this behavior, she was noticed by an Illuminate talent scout who would later approach her under the pretense of arrest for disorderly conduct only to secretly offer her training as a bio-engineer with a focus on cyber-technology augmentations for military applications. Without a second thought, she accepted the offer, assured that she would be allowed to visit her pack regularly throughout her training and service to the Illuminate.
During her years serving as an Illuminate "Exploratory Research Division" officer, Barida developed an extreme contempt for the criminals that she was often made to work with as test subjects, deciding based on many of her interactions with them that they were scum that had given up their rights when they decided to turn to crime. She was reported to her commanding officer by her peers for being unnecessarily cruel in her testing methods, and eventually decommissioned. Unable to cope with being separated from her work, she began to develop augmentations herself, recruiting the reluctant assistance of a packmate named Jesumi. In an attempt, which proved successful, to gain some test subjects, she secretly broke into a high security prison facility off-world and kidnapped six criminals, using focused charge collars to force their cooperation. During her tests, despite best efforts to keep them alive as long as possible two of the interned subjects refused to continue cooperating, perishing and causing Barida great grief, as she had even offered them freedom once she finished her research. Soon after, the Illuminate legal system caught up with her, having tracked her down via communications across the Nexus. She was made aware of it, sending Jesumi away along with a collection of her data and instructions on what to do with it, and scrapping all of her in-progress experiments before they could arrive. She was arrested as a dangerous rogue, and later sentenced to exile for crimes against Avali-kind. During transport to the prison planet she was sentenced to exile on, the ship she was on was attacked by a pirate vessel that she had instructed Jesumi to recruit- a favor that they owed her for supplying them with good equipment- and rescued from her imprisonment. Making a stop at a remote outpost she had set up just in case of an emergency, she grabbed some personal affects and evacuated the system as a part of the pirate's crew. For a few years, she traveled with the pirates while she continued her work until they finally disbanded.
While traveling as a mercenary medic in a conflict zone, she met the captain of her current ship, Stacia, becoming fast friends with her and her sister Kaali. With nowhere else to go, she offered to join their crew and provide them with her services in exchange for companionship and a stable home. Over the years, she came to consider them as her surrogate packmates, and now acts as somewhat of a parental figure, her main concern outside of her work lying on their well being, along with the well being of any new crew members that they recruit.
