Eileen the Bat. She lived her life as a rogue in a DnD style setting. Everything was going just fine until she happened to join a group who was tasked with taking out an alchemist who also happened to be a powerful wizard.
While she was able to sneak up upon the wizard in his lair, the fight carried on longer than the party had planned. Unfortunately, while she was taking a moment to try and patch her wounds, the wizard had attacked her with a fireball. Her initial reflexes saved her from dying immediately, but had cost her the use of her limbs. The blast sending her tumbling against a shelf full of alchemical potions and into a pit full of slimes that the wizard kept for ingredients.
The mixture of magical embers, alchemy potions, and living slimes had a very unusual effect when they combined. Her limbs which had been singed away when shielding her from the blast were suddenly replaced by the slimes, fusing with her body like a symbiote.
Though still slightly sentient, the slime has become essentially an extension of her own body. Though, if she becomes mentally exhausted, has her sanity damaged, or loses consciousness the slime may act on its own under a sense of self preservation. She can even alter her limbs into various shapes thanks to the shapeshifting abilities of the slime, which allows her to actually form her arms into standard hands or wings, and even turn her fingers into solid blades and claws.
