I created this character last night while watching the My Hero Academia openings. Let me know what you think.
Melancholy Bear
Human name: Melony
Description: An athletically built dark grey female Care Bear with long hair done back in a ponytail. When clothed she prefers to wear a blouse and skirt.
Symbol: A crying blue star.
Mission: To teach people that it's alright to be sad and to not hold in your emotions. She especially despises people and societies that tell people to "hold it in" because they think showing your sadness is somehow "childish". Real adults do cry.
History: Melony always knew she was different. She grew up in a foster home on Earth and was the only non-human there. She was never adopted because potential parents were afraid of her. While her foster siblings kept things civil at home, Melony was bullied and teased at school constantly, this caused her to get into bodybuilding and weight lifting so people would at least be too scared to physically torment her, but this only made her more isolated as children became more afraid of her, though she was never violent and just let her appearance keep her from being attacked.
In the midst of all this, Melony found out what she was: A Care Bear. Upon seeing some of them on TV and event he dolls in a story. For once she felt that she was special...until one of her bullies pointed out that if she was special enough to be a Care Bear that she would have a symbol and that they would have found her by now, neither of them realizing that she would get her symbol when she was found and that they would find her if only she made herself known. This drove Melony into a deep depression that lasted until she graduated, only finding solace in her bodybuilding and studied to at least get through school and away from her tormentors.
It was shortly after her graduation, while looking for a job, that she was found by the Care Bears when her depression almost drove her to suicide. They talked her off the ledge and invited her to come with them. All to eager to escape her tragic past and become a Care Bear for real, like those she idolized, she joined the Care Bear Family. She was somewhat discouraged to be given the name "Melancholy Bear" until she realized just how important being sad was to people, after being given a speech by Grumpy Bear, who also represents what is often seen as a "negative emotion". She helps teach other children to let their sadness out and accept it as part of themselves.
Note: This is written without the Care Bear Magi being taken into consideration, this is treated as though she is a normal Care Bear in a normal Care Bears world.
