Well, both Melissa and Monica have been good friends since Melissa was an infant and Monica was 5 years old. Later when Monica became a teenager and Melissa became a 10 year old Pikachu, Monica grew affectionate and in Love with Melissa. But she was a kid and didn't understand yet and thought Monica was weird and crazy until later in a kiss on lips.
