It was obvious from the start that Ike would join the team. The cat was the definition of 'gifted', showing signs of that hyper-growth phenomenon thing that popped up among people here and there. The fact the new teammate bordered the seven-foot mark in height was already humbling for every other player on the team, and doubly so for the wolf David, who managed with one inch away from six feet.
Yes, being a senior and a full foot shorter than someone fresh out of high school stung quite a bit, especially since Ike was quite the braggart, who found himself fond of teasing the serious and vertically challenged teammate specifically.
One thing the cat found out made the canine senior particularly flustered were their feet. Their differences were even starker there - Ike's size 23s would be considered huge even for someone his height, and larger than most of the stompers in the professional basketball league. Comparing those things to the wolf's unusually modest size 9s was downright criminal, yet that's what Ike did.
David had been called "adorable" more times than he could remember. To tell the truth, it was way past the threshold where the unhumorous canine would punch someone in the gut for it. Yet he hadn't done it yet with the cocky freshman.
Why? Well, it helped that Ike seemed to save the pushier provocations for when they were alone, mercifully leaving the majority of the wolf's reputation intact. So it could be worse. But even the wolf was secretly surprised at how much indiginity he managed to endure... At one point, it would seem he started simply expecting it, taking it for granted, in a way. 'Liking it' would be the term spoken by a more malicious mouth.
Quick sketch I did just because I wanted to draw my big-footed cat dude again ^^; Plus, as it's known I love comparison scenarios, so took the opportunity to do just that this time.
