Another OC, who has the distinction of never actually appearing in any of my stories outside of being mentioned in the background of a posthumous character.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every family has that one member they don't like to talk about.  For the Prowers, that would be Zachary.  Generations ago he was an up and coming young naval captain, tipped to potentially be the next Fleet Admiral alongside his friend Andre D'Coolette.  He seemed a Mobian with a future.

No one could have predicted when, during a routine voyage, Prower would seemingly go mad, savagely massacring his crew and scuttling his ship before stealing a longboat.  For four months the fox would remain vanished, only to reappear with a new ship and a new crew, sailing under the skull and crossbones of the Jolly Roger.  Thus began the bloody reign of Zachary Prower, sailing the seas and cutting a path of destruction and death as he preyed on any ship or port that crossed his path.  Survivors spoke of a demon fox, possessed of an insatiable lust for murder over bounty, a feral creature that seemed to move about his ship as though one with the sea winds themselves.  Indeed, even his ship, the Wraith, seemed able to appear out of nowhere in empty waters, attack, and then vanish again leaving little more than a wake in the water.  They spoke of a sword that seemed to fight of its own accord, a demonic blade that slew enemies as its master laughed maniacally.

They spoke of a monster in the form of a Mobian, leading a crew of brigands who hungered only for the gold their captain provided, but seemed in mortal fear of the man's ire, as though he'd bound their very souls to his own fate.

Eventually it fell to the Kingdom of Acorn, the very country he'd betrayed, to stop him.  His own offspring, a young kit named Parse, approached the King with knowledge of how to entrap the Wraith, and in doing so end his father's reign of terror.  One hundred and eight ships, gathered not merely from Acorn's allies but her enemies as well aligned for this purpose, under the command of Andre D'Coolette, the friend betrayed.

The trap was set and sprung, the Wraith pinned and moored to prevent escape, her crew swarming the other ships in an attempt to free her.  For Zachary would never give his crew permission to accept clemency, no matter what dire fate might await otherwise.  Fox and Coyote clashed, a duel to the death as, indeed, Zachary seemed possessed of some supernatural ferocity that forced D'Coolette to his back more than once.  In the end, though, the deathblow was struck, and Andre watched the very real blood seeping from the fatal wound in his former friend's chest.

But though the battle had ended, the story had not.  Zachary, stubborn even unto his grave, would not allow himself to be taken.

<I>"Though time may pass, I pledge you this; my spirit and strength to this world remain forever bound.  My power forever a blight upon this world, my revenge forever upheld. Mark this well, I SHALL RETURN, for You are not the only who can Choose." </I>

And with that, Prower did fall into the briny deep, his body never to be recovered as his hat, the last remnant of his life before, landed at D'Coolette's feet.  The Wraith itself sank beneath the waves, following its master to what seemed a watery grave as the fleet took its captives and headed for home.  Prower's hat was taken to be given to King Acorn, a trophy taken for a son lost, only to be stolen enroute to the capital, disappearing from history.

Okay, so obviously this is just a basic overview of Tails's piratical ancestor without giving too much away.  I actually wanted to do some stories featuring the guy, though that has fallen by the wayside.  So tell me what you think.

Edit: I redid the picture a bit.  Found a tutorial on how to do eyes I liked a lot and altered some of the floor paneling.  Hopefully it looks better.

Very grim!
A truly bloodthirsty pirate and a fiend down to the depths of his blighted soul.
But what made him go so bad, so abruptly?

What makes you think he turned bad over just stopped pretending to be good? 😳

Honestly, it has a lot to do with something he found on that fateful voyage he took.  It would probably help if I mentioned ol' Zack has an interest in antiquities and old civilizations, such as, say, one made up of spiny anteaters...  He's actually something of an homage to Skeletor's backstory.
