My personal family crest, belles family members have the lotus and pentagon block in the middle with the five major affinities and the five minor affinities (the large and small oval or circles). They are blank, the interiors of the affinities and center symbol change depending on the family member who’s crest it is.
The triangular areas are usually gemstones and change on the member. Mine are Black Lightning Ridge Opals, the border of the petals are Amethyst with the petals of the lotus themselves made from shadow opal (a black gemstone with vivid purple and blue fire inside, looks like a cloud of exploding stars in a void of shadows trapped in glass) and the triangles inside the petals made from star opal. The outer rim of the pentagon is made from lapis lazuli and inside part of the pentagon is made from purple moonstone (labradorite). The small lines or borders of the major affinities are made from gold, the minors silver. The book is orracalcum, the brushes are mythril. The scripts are copper.
The affinities not listed are made from their respective materials, but, usually the lightning bolt is a white material, the healing ruby or marble, the earth is copper or bronze or iron, the light is diamond, quartz, gold, silver, platinum etc, the darkness obsidian, black opal, or black amethyst. Crystal is made from any crystal type. And alchemy is plain steel with the script made from platinum.

Keep in mind this is olny for my personal crest, it’s a rough reference for what those symbols are usually made from. My mother’s crest would be similar yet very different. She’d likely have similar materials in it but most have dark purple gems and crystal, opal, gold, and dark blue gems/crystals as those are belles colors.

For mine: I am typically magically inclined so a spell book with diagram, but I am also a writer, thus the brush and script on the second page.
