What do you use to design your 3D models?  I've used Daz and Poser enough for modeling, but I've been wanting to get into designing my own models.  Thanks!

I use ZBrush (the 4R2 version), and I can tell you it's really simple when compared with other softwares once you control the interface. :)

You can read the book "Introducing ZBrush 4" (found it in pdf on Internet), but I don't find it necessary if you decide to invert a while exploring the program itself.

One thing you should be aware of is that the models themselves are called "ZTools", so that's what you have to save through the option "Save" under the Tool pallet (at the upper right corner of the window).
If you save the Document itself instead of the ZTool you'll get just an image of the model placed in the workarea and you'd lose it...

The only problem it can give you is the amount of polygons you can have, making your computer slow at a irritably rate and almost impossible to export it properly, so you definitively should download the free plug-in called "Decimation Master" from the official pixologic page (pixologic.com).

The plug-in is designed to reduce the polygons and points amount at a 20% (that's the recommended percentage, one higher would make it lost its details).

For example, the body of this character (only the body without the helmet) had 61,000 polygons, but after using Decimation Master it ended having only 12,000.

I hope I helped you, and take for sure you can message me if you want to know something more about ZBrush. :)

Thanks for the info!  I'll see if I can find all this software and mess around with it.  (That's how I learned Poser...)

I saved your reply as a .txt so I can look back on it later.  *grin*

Ok, glad to hear that! :)

And thank you for watching my account, I'll do the same and wait to see anything from you. :D
