I'm not looking to make a point with this one. I just wanted a little something different for a change. Most of the commissions I buy tend to be cheerful, or at least optimistic, and that can get boring after a while.

No need to be sorry. I like when something I've commissioned grabs someone's interest and I like all the ideas you put forth. It makes me kind of wish I'd left things more ambiguous when I originally uploaded it over on FA. The original idea was that she has been let go from her job. What she's throwing away is her time card.
I like the lighting in this picture, too. I don't know if sugarhighstudios has an account here, but her work is definitely worth checking out and she really knocked herself out working on this for me.

Nah, I should have made it clearer from the start. I just didn't want people to think I was fishing for sympathy with this one. As for alternate interpretations, I know what you mean but I don't mind at all. Sometimes someone else will come up with a better idea for one of my commissions than I ever would have. When I first glanced at this, I thought the lighting made it look epic, but when I looked at the finer details, I suppose it is a little gloomy. Still, those bright eyes have a nice epic look to them. It's almost as if this is just her disguise as a secret agent!

The lighting does give it a nicely dramatic effect, I agree, in a kind of film noir-ish sort of way. And I can definitely see the secret disguise angle now you've mentioned it. Now I kind of wish I could say that was intentional!
