As you can probably figure out, with my "new" style (new to me, even if you guys don't know its new!) I really prefer to draw and colour with traditional mediums. I get really good results with my free hand sketches, that I then clean up, ink and colour by hand with markers, coloured pencils, and maybe a couple other things thrown in for depth.
This is actually a sort of collage piece, subject wise. I had two separate sketches I had done for fun of Teffy (my husband's character) and Kitten (my fursona) dressed as we actually dress IRL. I had fun including things like Teffy's headphones that he wears year round to and from work, and on trips. He even uses them as earmuffs during the winter. XD
So everything you see is something either we own, or very close to it. Teffy wears hiking boots IRL, and they tend to be intricate, so I drew a simpler version for the drawing of course. I do own that coat however! >^.^< Its a fabulous soft suede exterior with the black accents being black furr. Its fabulous.
For the setting, I wanted to show something Teffy and I really get up to- we like to go for walks in the local parks. <3 So I organically sketched up a forest, that with my colouring technique of layering, ended up being quite dark. I don't mind because I really like some of the textures- such as the tree trunks and the background around the trees. Not super realistic, but I love the feeling of the different textures.
This is quite a large picture for me, but I managed to scan this one with pretty good results- so enjoy!
