While I'm working on getting these old Commissions out of the way, I figured for my first posting for 2012 I post a concept sketch that is a work-in-progress.
A few months back, I discovered a few pony artist had tried their hand at making a MLP/Power Rangerscrossover concept, like ponified GoKaiger and what not. So I figured I try it too. This is hopefully something I'll have completed after I get started on doing pony commissions.
The concept I came up with is called "Harmony Taskforce: PONINGER," or "Mare-Do-Well & the Pony Power Rangers" in an English dub title. The concept would be an anime adaption of G4.
The concept goes, that this would take place in the MLP:FiM universe, after the series run is over, and would exist as a continuation of that series, but set up to bring human and alien characters into the G4 universe's mythology.
PLOT:
"After a rogue encounter & battle with evil extra-terrestial forces, Princess Luna, Spike, and the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony (Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, & Fluttershy) find themselves in a parallel universe, on a planet called "Earth," in the island country of Japan, sometime in the 21st century.
With no way back home to Equestria, they are forced to take on human form and survive in this bizare human-world where nature acts on it's own, and animals fend for themselves, while trying to stop the evil alien forces, the Imagi, from taking over both worlds, and finding a way home.
Using their Elements of Harmony, along with new powers driven from the mighty Power Grid and granded by Luna herself, Twilight and the girls are given a power-boost, and morph into the mighty Poninger, or Pony Power Rangers - 'Protectors of Two Worlds...'"
As side notes, my concept would have the Poningers being able to change between human and pony form while as Rangers, and later on Luna woud join them as the new and improve Mare-Do-Well, in both human and pony form. And later, Spike would gain Kamen Rider/Mask Rider powers and become "Kamen Rider RYO." Gilda the griffin would also make a return and join our heroines as a Griffen-theme 7th Ranger by second season. In addition, they would join forces with The <i>Special Combat Unit SHINESMAN (look them up if you don't know them), Bio-Booster Armor Guyvers 1 & 3, and even Android KIKAIDER during team-up specials.
While Luna's Mare-Do-Well outfit would be a Ranger version of what thelivingmachine02 came up with, the Rangers' outfits would be a designed based on a fusion between Power Rangers Zeo, Wild Force, NinjaStorm, and MMPR: The Movie, with Zeo-style helmets representing their cutie marks/elements, in the visors and belt buckles, and have the Poninger Logo as a cutie-mark in pony form, while be a logo on the left breast in human form. They would also have MMRP: Movie-styles boots & gloves, with the color streaks in them. As for Spike & Gilda's outfits, I have no clue yet on their design. I have to look up some other ranger/sentai designs and Kamen Rider designs before I come up with anything for those two.
Anyways, for Rainbow Dash's outfit here, she would be color the same as her caot color - cyan or sky-blue. Her visor is suppose to be a straight-down lightning bolt (not arrow), and would either be black or would have a full rainbow-colored visor like Big One has in the old sentai series JAKQ, as it will go with a rainbow-color theme I have in mind for her chest-strips and glove's & boot's cuffs.
For her human form's anatomy, I was going with extvia's MLP anthros for the anatomy style, in terms of a Digimon-style kid anatomy, including using Extvia's concept for her wings and tail, although any wing design would look good on her human form as long as it fits well.
Anyways, I'll come back to this concept later in about a month or two when I got time.
