I'll try again tomorrow. It's just the part where somepony get's turned into a vampire, and is overhelmed by everything that's happening. I have problems describing how the character thinks about the whole situation. At the same time I need to explain a bit more about my vampires without turning it into a boring lecture.

I still mourn after that Rarity as vampire fic that was never, and will probably never be, finished. I like vampire stories and such. I don't need them always, but they can be quite interesting. Well, I wanted to make her look eccentric, and I think I succeded.

Hard to tell. I know that I dislike that Twilight Sparkle guy, and I'm not talking about the pony if you know what I mean. I like stories where they are pictured as physical strong creatures, maybe with some magic, and mixed with an impulsive personality.
May they be haughty blood princes who kill everybody who annoys them, or creatures silently living between the humans, trying to find their place in the world.

Let me get a bit more detailed because I don't know about the really classical version of vampires. They might be physical stronger and posess magic, or strange abilities, but they still have their weaknesses, quite dire ones I'd say, like needing blood to survive, not being able to cross flowing waters, aversion against garlic, crosses, sunlight, and I think a few more things. Though, I usually ignore a few of the more ridiculous ones like the water problem, and the crosses.

Regarding the personality, I prefer the ones who hold little of human lives, due to their long lives, but are intelligent enough not to slaughter without reason. I also like stories where they act in packs/families (not imperatively blood related) since eternity can be quite lonesome ;)

Still sounds like Stoker. He, at least in my opinion,created the ground work for the modern day version of what we would consider a vampire. The one work of his that I know about, that concerns vampires, is Dracula. In it he basicly created an image of a vampire similar to what you described.

Yep, It's been awhile since I read it but in it Stoker decribes Vlads' fall as a man, his pursuit of his lost love, his battles with VanHellsing and his death at the end.
Their are a few other things that I could point out but unfortunately alcohol is messing with my memory right. Needless to say the image that you have is pretty close to want he created.

I think the first vampire characters I became interested in were from a little Indie RPG. I suppose you don't know Vampires Dawn, it's probably unpopular (even more) outside of germany. It tells the story of Asgar, Alaine, and Valnar, whereas Asgar is a complete sadist, who tricked Valnar, took his blood, and kept him as slave, to revive Alaine, the only girl he ever loved and probably the only person that connected him with his human side. So we have the human lover, Valnar, on one side, the haughty vampire, Asgar, on the other one, and Alaine, who still believes that vampires are the superior race, as voice of reason between them. These were the first concepts of vampires I knew.
