"You hold yourself back Azerek. You don't commit.
You don't realize it, not yet, but you're much stronger than I am."
The best way to characterize Jathan in the story, from a storytelling view, is he's a person who lifts other characters up, kind of like an exposition tool. He's pretty well-established for much of the story and his development is pretty slow in the main-arch I'm developing, so I try to use Jathan as a means to enhance the development of tertiary characters, to help them believe in themselves as many of the characters that surround Jathan feel inferior in his presence, much to his annoyance.
Azerek lacked a positive male-role model in his life and looks up to Jathan to fill that void. He is both intimidated and respectful of him. However, Azerek has power and abilities far greater than he realizes, some that even overshadow Jathan, a genetically engineered soldier of war.
