when starting a motion sequence I was taught to get the seen and motion and blocking ant to worry about the placement of hands feet and head later....I was just impressed that you did that all at once....I learned pen and ink before Studio light and magic all I had where beta max recorders and cameras to fix the slightest mistake I had to start over even though you had everything numbered you would throw away so much paper.....going digital saves so much time and trees....

that look like I really promising animation. Looking forward to seeing it finished!

are you gonna color it ?
mrluca

Woah! Cool to hear it from professional! Thanks! ^-^
Yeah! I'm gonna be color it and add the background. And now I think I'll do it before the finished lineart. Because I can't wait to see some result already xD

A professional? Me? That flattering ^^ but I'm just a hobbyist with big dream!
But if you'd like some critique input,  I guess there some tips that could improve the feel of your animation :p

Sure! Feel free with any critique! I'm just the same guy with a big dream ^-^

I won't go full berserk stating everything that could be done, as you're already pretty far in your progress, but here some point that should hopefully be easily done :

your character movement are too synchronised, that give a little robotic feeling, for exemple :

when nick raise his arm, both of his foot move with a identical movement, they start and end at the very same time, you can make each limb start a few frame a part which will give a more natural feeling.

some movement look like they should result of another action :

nick put the phone down as he start looking to judy,
you could make nick first look at judy and then put his phone down ( he see judy and decide to stop using his phone)
or make him put his phone down and then start looking at judy (he is done with his phone and get back to the date)
you would notice that is also directly tied to movement being synchronised ( and end up looking robotic )

some action are a little bit too late :

judy raising her ear don't seem to result from an event, making the viewer wondering why it happened.
she then proceed to look at nick (or is it her drink ?), so I guess the idea that was involved was judy putting her mind back to another subject.
this is a situation where you would probably actually want to synchronise the head turning to the ear lifting.
 - second idea is to use a 2 step action : since there is nothing that link up the lifting of the ear to the movement of the head (nothing happen for a few frame), you could add a movement that would make it look like this is the same action executed separately:
when the ear lift, the eyebrow could react and the head could get a little nodding long enough to last till the head start turning.

there few more thing, but I won't gonna be annoying about these :p unless you want it ^^, I know animation is hard, even tho I know most of the animation principle, I still have trouble putting them in practice even in 3D, I canimagine how hard it is in 2D.

Wooow! That's so cool to hear so much details! Thanks a lot!
Yes, the robotic movements are my weak side yet. I'm trying hard to avoid it but still not good enough ^^ I'm afraid the current legs movement, and the point you've noticed is the good sign of my mistake. But (if you won't mind) I'll try to finish this scene without redraw this movement. I want to see the result of this complex movement: he turned music on, and wants to see Judy's reaction and at the same time he puts his phone on the table. I know there's might be my mistake but it was an initial idea of this movement. Then he starts to move his arm up and put his head on the palm. And now my strange idea to change his legs pose at the same time with hands. I tried to do the same infront the mirror different ways. And I believe I might be wrong. But let me finish it before I redraw it. ^^

As regards Judy's ears. Yeah, the reason of its movement is the sound of music (in my previous submission I posted this fragment with sound).

Sooo I think you're absolutely right and I'll redraw it finally. I will remember all of your advice till the end of this fragment! And I'll be glad to hear any other comment! Really thank you so much! ^^

By the way. I'm learning now the amazing course of animation by Aaron Blaze. And there are lot of advices about movements and emotions. It's really not easy for me to get it with tis my first attempt but I'll be better with your advices too!

if you're gonna redraw some frame, then I shall continue a bit :

movement are also kinda too linear, you need to introduce some acceleration and deceleration.
you should also watch this video that explain the 12 principle of animation :

we can chat somewhere if you want more advise ^^

now that you mentioned the detail about what nick is doing and the music, that give a better insight about what should be happening, I think I would have more accurate suggestion if you want to hear them on telegram or discord :p

Oh, sure, I know those 12 principles! But there's one thing I can't understand. Each animation principle is baswd on real physics. But it slightly unnatural, like in a 'classic cartoons', y'know. But should every animated sequense to lead this methaphoric stylisation of the real movements? I tried to preserve physics of movement and had started and finished every movement with an acceleration and deacceleration. A bit as you can see. Just a tiny fraction of a second. But I have a very slow movements yet. In the next scenes it will be fast movements and I'll use those principles more visible, I suppose.

But correct me please if I wrong ^^ Will be glad to chat with you more. Maybe via Telegram? But not now if you don't mind. I'm going to draw for a next hour before bed =3 I saw your Telegram nick and I will write you tomorrow, if you won't mind of course ^^
Thank you sooo much for your advices! I'll be very happy to continue it!

here, I did a small exemple of the kind of movement I was talking for when she put her ear up :

http://share.scimunk.com/2019-04-08_19-51-44.mp4

these are all subtle movement that make the final motion look alive, notice how the eyebrow first go down a little bit before going up : this is one of the principles of animation called anticipation.

Omg! Thanks for that 'reference'! ^-^ Yeah! This is absolutely right! I'll check my movements again before coloring!

I noticed you're even more than just simple hobbyist already. Your models are unbelievably close to originals and sometimes I think you're one of that guys who did it ^^

Thanks! I got some help for the sculpting of my model, so I can't take the whole credit for how similar they look to the movie, but I did everything else ^^

you're pretty talented too, you have a kind of a unique style that pretty recognizable !
