Chapter 4
Outside Sonic's grotto, Tails and Knuckles sat down feeling sad.
"Poor Sonic." Tails sobbed.
"It's my fault. I didn't mean to tell, it was an accident." Knuckles frowned and then he turned around to see Sonic following Mephiles and Iblis. He couldn't believe his eyes."Sonic, where are you going and what are you doing here with these eels?"
"I'm going to see Malinda." Sonic replied.
"What? No! She's a demon, she's a monster!" Knuckles cried.
"Why don't you go tell my mom? You're good at that!" Sonic glared at Knuckles as he continued to follow the wicked eels.
Knuckles stood just there and then, he and Tails followed Sonic where they lead into Malinda's cave. Sonic hesitated but he went inside anyway. While he was he inside he looked at the poor souls which creeped him out.
"Come in, my dear boy. We mustn't lurk in doorways which it's rude." said Malinda while she was putting her makeups. "Now, then. You're here because you have a thing for this Hedgehog prince fellow, isn't it?"
Sonic nodded but he didn't know how did Malinda know that he was in love with Shadow.
"Not that I blame you, he is quite a catch, isn't he?" Malinda chuckled. "Well, pretty boy, the solution to your problem is simple. The only way to get what you want, is to become a hedgehog yourself."
"Can you do that?" Sonic asked.
"Why yes, my dear sweet child. That's what I do! It's what I live for. To help Unfortunate merfolk yourself." Malinda smiled as she placed her arm around Sonic's arm while Tails and Knuckles were spying on them and told Sonic not to make a deal with Malinda but Mephiles and Iblis grabbed them.
"Now, here's the deal. I will make you a potion that will turn you into a human for three days. Got that? Three days. Now listen, this is important. Before the sun sets on the third day, you've got to get dear ol' princey to fall in love with you. That is, he's got to kiss you. Not just any kiss, the kiss of true love. If he does kiss you before the sun sets on the third day, you'll remain hedgehog, permanently, but if he doesn't, you turn back into a merhog, and you belong to me." she informed him with an evil smile and cupped his chin. "Have we got a deal, pretty boy?"
"If I become a hedgehog, I'll be with my mom, siblings and friends again." Sonic sighed sadly.
"You're absolutely right! But you'll have your man. Life's full of tough choices, isn't ut?" Malinda chuckled. "We haven't discussed the subject of payment. You can't get something for nothing, you know."
"But I don't have any.." before Sonic could finish talking Malinda placed her tentacle on his mouth.
"I'm not asking much. Just a token, really, a trifle. You'll never even miss it. What I want from you is your voice." said Malinda.
"My voice?" Sonic asked.
"That's right, cutie pie! No more talking and no more singing." Malinda replied.
"But without my voice, how can I..?" he asked again.
"Well, You have your looks! Your pretty face! And don't underestimate the importance of body language! Ha!" she said as she used her sexy pose. And then she picked up her magic scroll and a pencil. "Now, here's a scroll that you'll sign your name on it. Go ahead and make your choice."
Sonic had a very hard decision to either become a Hedgehog or stay under the sea. But then, Sonic hesitatedly signed his name on the scroll and Malinda smiled. Then, she made a potion in her cauldron. Once she finished it she turned the potion into a whirlwind around Sonic and she began to sign her spell.
"Beluga sevruga. Come winds of the Caspian Sea. Larengix glaucitis. Et max laryngitis. La voce to me! Now... Sing!" Malinda smiled.
Sonic began to sing as the foggy arms approached to him and grabbed his voice from his throat and then, the voice went inside Malinda's seashell necklace as she laughed wickedly as the spell turned Sonic into a hedgehog with legs and feet. But he could no longer swim or breath underwater. Knuckles and Tails hurriedly carried Sonic and rushed into the surface just in time.
