My dragon's arent that realistic , but I stumbled across an amazing artist who can draw some really wicked realistic looking scaley creatures! Go check them out at
MonikaZagrobelna on deviantart
They are super sweet and linked me to a scale tutorial they had up. It was for painting scales , and I generally dont work with shading and havnt done many digital paintings lately , But after watching the video I at least tried to take some of the tips I learned and incorporate them into how I normally draw.
Ive never really drawn each individual scale on before. I know they arent perfect , they should probably be closer together and much more of them , but for a first attempt I am actually really happy with how this turned out considering its a flat colored piece and the scales still stand out thanks to that tiny bit of shine added to each and every scale. It also makes the fact she is underwater work well and look extra shimmery as her scales should!
Ill have to practice some more , but Im really excited to have been able to draw something this cool looking!
