Only partially the guy's not wrong connections do mean a lot in any kind of business and a lot of people take semesters off this is a big opportunity to really work up the ladder so to speak. I guess I'll let everyone know, since it doesn't look like it'll open up for a discussion on its own--internships that aren't tied to some sort of educational program or impedes college credit are illegal. And even though there aren't any specific hour limits for unpaid internships, there's a very thin line in terms of requirements between intern duties and employee duties. If that line is crossed(which let's be honest, is going to happen pretty soon), that's unpaid labor, and that's even more illegal.
Cooper's being robbed and manipulated, and doesn't even know it. :-(
