special thanks to Shadamyfangirl129 for suggesting Fire Alpaca, a free photoshop alternative I used to color this picture, with this I might actually have the confidence to draw more often. So in my last journal I thought about pokemon generation 8 which is coming out on the Switch soonish and came up with the idea that the starter pokemon could evolve a second type which would be strong against the second type of the one it would normally be weak to (think the opposite of gen 6.) I was thinking the water type could evolve into a fighting type, for its look I was thinking a sea otter with a pattern that looks like a classic sailor uniform, big flipper hands that curl up into boxing glove type fists. I think it would be cool to get a grass/dark pokemon as a starter since we only have like 3 so far, and I always wanted the grass starter to be an actual PLANT instead of just a green animal with a flower on it somewhere (more like Trevenant or Carnivine.) My vision is like a deep purple orchid looking thing with creeper vine limbs, in idle stance it would look like it has leaf sleeves with 3 vine fingers, but when it attacks the sleeves unfurl revealing 6 full vines that go all the way up to its shoulders, that smile on its stamen face looking quite sinister. I know we got a fire/psychic type in Delphox but not a lot of people like that one, plus we already got 3 fire/fighting ones and the last one was fire/dark and I don't want to repeat again so soon. My version is an elephant with a pattern reminiscent of the gear a circus elephant would wear, who keeps its eyes closed most of the time like it's meditating but could open them with a flash when it makes big attacks.
I'm not quite creative enough to draw all 3 parts of the evolutionary lines or come up with clever names for them, so feel free to make suggestions if you like.
