Happy Lunar New Year! This illustration was commissioned by @TBBW1 on telegram, for the Ties and Tails Club, a Seattle, WA based club that hosts monthly and weekly food events and meetups (@TiesandTails on Twitter).
I actually finished this piece in early Jan. and have been dying to post it. TBBW1 and I discussed a few ideas for this piece but ended up going with this, which was actually a suggestion of mine :) The inspiration for this comes from the red envelopes that are given out during Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Growing up, I always loved the art and designs on the envelopes, and there was one in particular (that I haven't been able to find) with art of goddess with a flute that was my favorite, and this piece is based on that.
