So after some much needed brainstorming, and Crisis' lovely sketching skills, we finally came up with a full design for King O'Hedge! At his core, King greatly resembles an older Rob, though he has a special birthmark that only appears on a few members of royalty throughout the generations. The Moon and Waves sigil, a mark denoting their control of Mercia just as the moon controls the tides, signifies his birth-given right to be the ruler.
His outfit is a mix of regal and casual, with an unbuttoned, embroidered jacket ending in tufted sleeves, fitting over his gloves. He wears no shirt underneath, allowing a peek at his peach belly, and his legs are covered by sleek dark grey pants embroidered at the ankles. Covering that at times of ceremony is his cloak, the only part visible in his single appearance in the Archie comics.
Regardless of the occasion, this version of King forgoes shoes purely to entertain Rob. While he is a harsh ruler, he is the opposite when it comes to family matters, doting on his son for whatever he can do within reason, and doesn't mind the wardrobe change.
Whether this is any help, or just really boring, here is the greatest ruler of Mercia, Offa. Basically it says who got to be in line to rule Mercia was unclear, so that in your lore it's a birthmark, is a feasible idea.
