Tooie: I don't normally do arts and crafts things, but I just had a cute idea. First of all this is a prototype. You might notice that a cute little mice living in the Dixie cup don't have any eyes. I might add them later or just make an entirely new one.

Materials and supplies:
-One Dixie Cup
-Poster board for base
-Sharpie Fine Point pen
-Mechanical Pencil .5mm Lead
-Cat toy mice
-Regular Scissors
-Manicure Scissors
-Super Glue

Process:
-I started out by placing the Dixie cup down on the poster board. I then traced around the cup with the pencil to get the basic size for the base.
-I then cut out the circle and did some very careful trimming trying to get as close to the penciling as I could without it being too jagged.
-I wanted the opening to look like the mice chewed into it, so I used the curved manicure scissors to cut jagged, yet still smooth bite marks for the opening. If you get it too small, its pretty easy to alter it. Mice aren't very symmetrical with their cutting. Make sure you flip the base over so that the penciling is on the bottom. Nobody needs to see it.
-When i had the door, I (painstakingly) wrote the words on the cup with my Sharpie Fine Point Pen. I'm lucky I got it as clear as I had. Its nerve racking, because if you mess up you got to start over.
-I ran into a problem getting the mice to stay in the cup, because their tails kept getting in the way. Snip! Snip! Problem solves. Nobody is gonna see em anyways.
-Super Glue Time! The mice came first. When I was happy with what position I wanted them in, I could pick them up, glue the heck out of their bottoms, and then stick them right where I had em. In hind's sight, I should have marked where to put them underneath, but I did okay.
-After the mice are glued to the base, I got to do the Dixie Cup. This is hard cause you can only put glue where the rims touch. I placed a tiny pencil dot where the rims touch the doorway and only glued from dot to dot. Dixie Cup gets lined up with those dots and presto, mouse house. :P

I hope ya'll like it! If I were a mouse, I think a Dixie cup would make an awesome house. ^^

Tooie: Thank you. I might do another one later with more detail for the mice. ^_^ But I still like this one all the same.

I had pet mice (9 over 6 years), and yes, they would've loved such a Dixie-Cup house to sleep in... :) (I miss my mice- As far as keeping mice, I've been on hiatus for two years, now... I may return to keeping mice sometime in the near future. They were wonderful girls. Incredibly bright and loving.... :) )
