tbh db has never had the most amazing writing lol it's very basic. even the original movie with broly in. imo they at least made a character who is more unique now instead of just angry all the time for no good reason lol.

yeah but his reason wasn't really a very justified one in the original. and it was a very basic reason without much complexity and it's not just his anger being towards vegeta, it was more complex than that. his father was forcing him to fight all the time, and even possibly brainwashed him into thinking they needed to take revenge on vegeta. despite his father being abusive, then ends up loosing control of his anger because he has bottled it up for so long due to how his father has raised him.
