's scraps gallery, trying to choose what I would try to color next and, let me tell ya, it was hard to find just one to work with. I love them all! Anyway, I also wanted to challenge myself as well, because if all I ever do is the exact same thing over and over, I'd never improve. This picture fit the bill nicely; not only are there two characters to work with but also the lines from the paper they were drawn on! For the most part, I think I was successful, especially with Jake there. Again I had a lot of fun with this and I may tackle the other two in this series as well, but that'll have to wait a couple weeks. I'm heading down to be with family for Christmas, so there won't be much chance on me working on anything while I'm gone.
There are two submissions here, the second one has a slightly darker white/gray to Jake's fur and the first is, naturally, lighter. I couldn't decide which was best so I decided to post them both and let everyone else decide. Enjoy!

Thank you again for the constructive criticism, I actually do appreciate it.. I made the fur as white as I could without it being invisible on the white background (a black background made the characters look a little bit too much like a Halloween drawing) and I did try for a dark black for the ear tips, but such a dark color was too offset of by the lightness of Jake's fur. I made a compromise and lowered the opacity until it looked right.

White is really hard to show in art. From the description, it sounded like you thought he was a light gray. But you do a good job in the color matching the pencil lining and looks natural. =)
