Emily perched on the diner stool, her legs not anywhere close to reaching the ground. She sat turned away from the nearby table, clutching her milkshake in both hands. She took a sip, the sweet ice cream cooling her tongue, as she focused on the conversation with Jenny.
And she made a concentrated effort to not look at Jenny's stomach.
Jenny sat across from her, the large, dark-furred feline using one of the couches that the diner offered for those with body types like hers. If she had been standing or sitting, her stomach probably wouldn't have been noticeable at all. But she currently lay half-draped over the side of the couch, which was causing her belly to be squished out to the sides slightly, and every once in a while, Emily couldn't help but notice a wiggle or a bulge, indicating that Emily currently had a "guest."
How long had they been in there? For a predator as large as Jenny, it was entirely possible that a smaller meal might not trigger her belly right away, leaving a prey to stew for quite some time. And even once it did start, it would take a while for the prey to be entirely gurgled away. Had the current resident of Jenny's stomach been there for minutes? An hour? A day? Had Jenny had them for breakfast this morning, or dinner last night?
Was it someone Emily knew? A mutual friend of both of theirs? It was possible. Emily sometimes wondered if she herself had ever been close to becoming an extra bit of thickness on the feline's haunches. A mouse was a cat's natural prey, after all. They were friends, but Emily knew where she stood if Jenny's instincts ever took over. Jenny's current meal taunted Emily, showing her a potential future that she might experience herself one day.
Not that she thought Jenny was trying to tease her, or anything. She probably hadn't even thought about it. Hell, she might not even remember that someone was in there. After they finished their little brunch date, Jenny would go on with her day as normal, her gut swinging slightly beneath her as it melted her meal away. It would take no conscious effort on Jenny's part; it would just happen. It was a foregone conclusion.
Emily shook her head, then took another sip of her milkshake. She could probably ask Jenny about the identity of her meal, and she doubted her friend would be offended, but she didn't want to spoil the casual mood by bringing up the subject. Whoever was in there was going to become feline pudge by the end of the day no matter what Emily did, and hey, at least this meant that Jenny wasn't hungry. Emily could enjoy the conversation without worrying that she might end up on the wrong side of Jenny's fur.
