Now I know what you're thinking; "Wow! You really went all out on Eggman's design! I can barely tell it's him!" What can I say? I was inspired! ...okay, that joke's over. In all fairness, Dr. Eggman has a design that I feel was totally perfected by Sonic Adventure. For all the things that game did wrong, they definitely nailed his definitive look so I really had nothing to change on him besides just my own artistic style. My biggest changes came more with how I feel he should be depicted and his motivation which I'll go into now, though fair warning it's long-winded and a bit rambling.

Essentially, Eggman in an odd recluse that is rarely seen and despite the rumors of his infamous grandfather, little to nothing is known of him or his lineage. Despite this, the enigmatic doctor helped to pioneer Mobius in an age of radical technological growth, a golden era that would be shortly lives however as the power source for these technological advancements, the iconic golden rings of the series, are severely lacking when it comes to keeping things running. This, of course, was an intentional flaw in their design which would lay be the ground work for Eggman's true intentions.

For as long as he could remember, Eggman had hated the fragility of the biological beings. Stupid creatures controlled by their emotions or wiped out by something as small as a cold. This world was clearly flawed but not without saving and he had the tools and the resolve to do just that. How? Simple. Reprogram the world. To save it from itself, he would erase disease, war and death itself by systematically turning Mobius into a mechanical haven. The more these pathetic people became dependent on his faulty machines, the easier it was to whip them into a panic over the ever threatening loss of power. Then, all he would have to do is come in with an alternative source of power, an unlimited source that is.

Once thought to be the product of mere fantasy, a stumbling upon a curious gemstone brought a certain set of seven emeralds out of the real of myth and into reality for the doctor. If he could just find all of them, he could secure his seat of power, literally. Once he held the world's power source in his control it would only be a matter of time before he could impose his will. Mandatory upgrades until the world was molded to his design. No more suffering. No more pain... of course this dream would soon shatter thanks to a blue hyperkinetic hedgehog and with each failure brings a new crack in the old egg causing him to slowly become more desperate and ruthless until he's totally lost sight of what he wanted all along.

Kind of a weird way to explain it, but I think you get the picture... I hope.
