Lucie's breath caught, and as she stared at the lion's belly, she felt an odd warmth growing in the pit of her stomach. There was a whole person in there. It could have been her, if she had crossed the lion at the wrong moment.
Stef raised an eyebrow at her mouse friend. "Do I need to worry about you?" She asked, though her tone was slightly playful. "You're not gonna go over and offer to be dessert, are you?"
Lucie blushed and shifted on the small couch. They had eschewed the table and chosen to sit here because Stef might be a bit uncomfortable. Her round tummy would make sitting in front of a table more difficult.
"No, of course not," Lucie said. "I'm just... curious. I can't help but wonder what it would feel like."
Stef laughed. "Well, count me out. I'd rather stay on the outside of any predator's fur."
"Are you sure?"
Lucie jumped. It hadn't been her voice that had answered Stef. The mouse slowly turned her head upward.
Standing behind them, leaning with her hands resting on the back of the couch, was a tall, slender fox. Though not nearly as large as the lion, the fox still towered over the mouse and the possum, and would have even if they had not been sitting. She had red fur with black tips on her ears and fingers, and she wore a purple hooded jacket which hung open in the front, revealing a white underbelly and the lack of any kind of shirt underneath.
"After all," the fox continued, "if you've never tried it, how do you know? I'd like to imagine the inside of my fur is quite comfortable. I can let you try it out, if you'd like."
"I... um..." Stef swallowed hard. "That's quite alright."
"No no, I insist," the fox said, stepping around the outside of the couch and standing in front of Stef. "It's an experience you'll never top, I promise."
