For those that were wondering, these are the winning entries for the "Flags of our People" contest back in May 2011; all of which were submitted by JusticeWolf. :)
In the center of the flag, we have the crest of the Royal Family; the white representing the sincerity of the Royal House for their people and the peace they bring them. The blue represents the strength the people bring to the Empire and through their loyalty, the Empire's ability to keep peace over the land.
The star in the center of the flag is the symbol of the Order of David, the highest order of the Landon Empire. An order which gets its name from King David, for during King David’s meetings with the barbarian wolf tribes of 1314, the negotiations for alliance had broken down. In response, David fell to his knees before the great wolf chiefs and prayed to Iluminuh for a sign; a symbol to show the tribes it would be best for them to unite. The star he was looking too at that moment, so the legend tells, suddenly fell from the sky landing before the King. Becoming the symbol of unity and faith to all the people of the Empire, the "star" itself broke into two pieces. The largest half being inserted into the Royal Scepter, while the smaller half was placed into the Royal Crown of the Landon Emperor.
The rest of the flag is derived from the Royal Crest, but with a different meaning. The blue is for the oceans that surround the Landon Empire, while the black line represents the protection the Royal Army and Navy bring to the Empire and the white is the light the Empire wishes to bring to the world.
The Flag of the Benkari Empire
For the banner of the Benkari Empire, the red represents their strength, warrior culture, and martyrs that fell at the hands of the Landonians during the conflict of 1620 AD. The white represents the people’s faith to the teachings of the Bakadoshi and the wisdom they had brought them.
The symbol in the white field is that of Tohru Ishida's, an odd marking that he bore on his back; said to have been given to him by one of the Bakadoshi after giving him a vision on how to unite the Benkari people and bring them back to greatness. As for the two black lines, the first is to remember their past and the second is to learn from that past and to move forward; towards victory and honor.
The Flag of the Piero Republic
The torch represents the freedom and knowledge of the Republic, while the gold/yellow is the generosity of the people; welcoming all who wish to bask in its light.
The purple is the justice that freedom brings and binds them all together and the red star is their willingness to sacrifice all, so as to keep their ideals of freedom safe.
The Flag of the Arash Sultanate
The flag of the Arash Sultanate (also known as the Banner of Vishalah) features a diamond that represents unity, protection, tranquility and balance; while in the center of the flag, we have the world encompassed in Vishalah's light. Thus making the world, and her banner, an emerald green hue.
