A New Book

It's 23:35 on a Wednesday night.  A young girl, who should normally be asleep on this school night, suddenly can't get any relent from her restless night. After a while, she finally gives in. I guess I don't want to go to bed tonight... perhaps a walk will do.
The tween girl, Maria was her name, decided that there was no better to calm her nerves to sleep than to take a night walk. She didn't put on much before heading out, some slip-ons and a jacket to wear over her nightgown. "It's cold out, so I shouldn't be long." Maria told herselg as she made her way out the door quietly.

The Town of Noel was known for being cold, but this night was different than the others. the temperature read 50° out, but the night air, as it was, felt nice on her face. Once around the block shall do. Maria thought and let her feet take here where they may.  The air felt nice, it was a southern wind, good to clear your thoughts, or so she had heard. Why can't I sleep?  Any other time, falling asleep and staying asleep doesn't hit me like tonight.  Maybe I'm over thinking it.
Maria was lost in thought during her walk, but unbeknownst to her, these lost thoughts would soon fade away, and the perfect way was with what her eyes soon saw. "A moving van?" Maria was shocked.  Theere was a moving van parked in the driveway of this two story house.  Maria had walked by this house earlier in the week, always mocking the horrible colors of this house, which at that time, was vacant property, and now it had owners. She then saw a young black couple moving a matress out of the moving van.  How odd, people moving in at night. she thought to herself. I can understand moving in during the daytime, but at night?  Why? She continued to observe the couple for five minutes as they moved various things from the van into the house, wondering if it was only them. "I wonder if they are newlyweds, or if they have a child..." she told herself.  "If so, that means a new kid will be at school."
"Well hon, that's the last of the moving, let's get some sleep." said the husband to his wife.
"Yeah, and I'm glad that's the last of it." the wife says to her husband.  "Now let's get some sleep, we have a lot of unpacking to do in the morning."
Maria yawns, I should get back too, I'm getting sleepy. Maria thought to herself and then headed back home.
*

The next morning at St. Noel, Maria sat at her desk in class, seemingly lost in thought. That is still not normal, or is it...
"Bonjour, Maria." Maria snapped back to reality  thanks to the greeting of her friend.
"Oh, bonjour, Flo." Maria greeted
"You seem lost this morning." Flo says with a confused look on her face.
"It's nothing." Maria explains.  "I went out for a walk last night because I couldn't sleep and noticed this couple moving in to that horrible looking house down the block from where I live."
"Oh?" Flo was now interested.
"They moved in, yes, but at night.  Isn't that weird?" Maria asks.
"Non, some move in at night as it may be easier.." Flo answers
"Moving into a house in the middle of the night is convenient?  I disagree."

"Hey you guys, have you heard the rumors going around this morning?" Calvert asks as he walks through the door.
"Rumors, what rumors?" someone in the class asks.
"There's a new kid in school today." Calvert answers."
Upon saying this, the classroom began to get more lively than normal.  Many of the students began wondering what the new kid would be like. "Looks like we may get some company, non?" Flo questions Maria with a wink.
"I guess." Maria answered.  She then thought, I guess that couple has a kid after all.
The commotion soon ends as the bell for class rings.  The sister does the usual; greeting, opening of the window to air out the class, role call, and then the next. "Class, we have a new student today who moved into town just recently." The sister addresses her pupils. "All right, come on in, young one."
The new student walks into class and stands next to the sister's desk, was male.  His height was average for the students in class, you could say he was the median height of the boys. His skin is chocolate brown, his short hair is dark brown, but could easily be mistaken for black and he was sporting the messy hair look. His eyes are the color of honey, an unusual trait for him. He gives a smile to the class, which clearly shows his dimples. He filled out the school uniform quite well... "My name is Cody Walker." he introduces himself, "I moved in with my folks, like, overnight, so I'm still getting used to things." Cody adjusts his collar, revealing a silver chain, but the rest remains hidden underneath his collar and vest.
"Welcome to our school, Cody," the sister greeted back, "however, I'm not a fan of your pants, but since it's your first day, I will give you a pass."
"Corduroy pants aren't my favorite either." Cody says
"Corduroy pants are fine, but not that color.  Darker colored pants from tomorrow onward."
"Noted."
"And take off that jewelry, we do not allow that at school." The sister continues.
"Yeah--no, this stays on." Cody replies. "I'll take that seat in the back."

"Non, this won't go well." Flo whispers to Calvert.
"Nope." Calvert whispers back.
As Cody heads for his seat, the sister approaches Cody from behind in an attempt to catch his shoulder, but he turns around to face the teacher. What soon followed would be the first sign of what would become his reputation's beginning: Cody manages to catch the sister's wrist with his hand. "Unhand me and hand over that jewelry this instant."
"My mistake." Cody moves his hand so his palm was covering the knuckles of his teach.
"Now then, about that--" The sister withdrew her hand, and that's when it happened.  The class was shocked at what they saw...

Instead of the sister cleanly removing her hand, she ends up jolting Cody forward, his hand still on top of her own. "What in the..."
"Don't look at me, I let go of you." Cody cuts the sister off.
The sister tries to free her hand, only to continue to tug Cody towards her. "How in heaven is this happening?"
"Great, first day and I'm stuck to the teacher." Cody frowns, "I thought a new school would not give me this old problem."
Every student in class is now laughing, they couldn't believe what transpires before their eyes.
*

Later on, but before lunch, Cody rummaged through his locker Man, what a rough day.  This is nothing like me old school. he thought. Lunch isn't far away, Cody, shake it off. Cody then closes his locker.
"Hey, excuse me." a voice said to him.
Cody turned around to see who addressed him and there she was.  Skin the color of a peach, short black hair with a sideswept part in front, and green eyes seen behind the black framed glasses. "Um, Cody, is it?" she asks.
"Yeah, wassup?" Cody asnwers.
"Can I borrow you for a bit of help?" the girl asks.
" For..."
"Just to play off a pest."
"Sure, why not."
"Thanks, Cody.  I'm June by the way."

Cody accompanies June, agreeing to play along with whatever scheme the girl had in mind.  No harm, right?  Well, he soon found June holding onto his arm, yet he didn't seem to mind.  In fact, his mother would probably be giddy if she saw this happening. Cody and June soon approach another young boy; Hispanic in ethnicity with cinnamon brown color to his skin, well combed black hair and hazel eyes, and an expression that didn't seem okay.  "Well, here he is." June told the boy.
"Seriously, this guy?" he asks.  "No way."
"Yes, WAY!" June answers.
"You mean to tell me that the guy who just started school here today is your boyfriend?"
On the surface, Cody had a straight face, but on the inside, he couldn't believe how lamb led he was. And here we go. he thought.
"Yes, Diego, this is my boyfriend." June explained.
"Yeah right, do you think I was born yesterday or something?" Diego questions.
"Maybe 5 a.m. today, but not yesterday." Cody retorts.
"Hah," June has a quick laugh, "nice burn."
"You got jokes, newbie." Deigo says, still unconvinced.  "So what her name, funny man?"
"Her name's June." Cody answers.
"And how did you two meet?"
"Discord app, LDR's best wingman."

"Discord?" Deigo questioned, still not convinced. "You hooked up on Discord?"
"Lots of people meet online in chatrooms, and Discord is no different." Cody explains.
"And how long you two been together?"
"Five months."
"She's never mentioned you before..."
"Mad about the lo-los much, bro?"
"As much as this game of 20 questions seems like good meme material, you need to stop making yourself look bad, Diego." June cuts in.  "Come on, Cody You have nothing else left to prove to mad and lonely here." and she walks away with Cody.
"Deuces." Cody chimes while walking away.

As Cody and June walk away, the two stop in the hall. "Hey, thanks for that." June says.
"No biggy," Cody chimes, "part of the Boyfriend's Handbook and whatnot."
"I'm happy we were on the low for five months, Cody." June says with a smile. "Be sure to have my gift next Friday, it's our half year anni."
"Right, thanks for reminding me." Cody says as he slaps his forehead.
"See you later, Cody."
"Bye, June."
Cody watches as June walks off backwards for and as see her turn around... only to see her bite it, going right into the trash can.  He shakes his head, Man, can I pick 'em... too bad I couldn't warn her in time.
Like a good "boyfriend", Cody goes to help June, who is flailing while in the trash while all who are in the vicinity laugh at June's misfortune.  It is at this moment where Cody gets his first perk. Cody got an upskirt, or downshirt in this case on June, of her pink bikini panties and her freckled posterior. Naturally, he was taking kicks to the chest over this, but Cody Managed to pull June out of the trash. "I'll take the kicks I got from the rescue as pennance for not being quicker on the warning." He said with an apologetic tone.
"Did they hurt?" June ased while reaching into the trash, as her glasses were not on her face.
"Quite a bit actually." Cody answered.
"Good." June puts her glasses back on after cleaning the lenses.  "Try to warn me before I make a fool of myself next time."
"Ok.  And run a comb through that hair, candy wrapper make horrible barrettes."
"You are lucky that you're funny, Cody."

The Judge
This is long overdue, but I'm posting it anyway.  Man, it's been a minute since I ULd a written piece.

so I wrote this taking place in the world of [iconname]seventy[/iconname]'s universe of sholis. From what I've read of his works, some of the characters don't have a defined trait, so I decided to wing it and trait on the fly.  I'm sure he'll let me know if I'm on or off on them...

Honestly, this story is supposed to have one more section going on for it, but it's 3 in the morning at the time of the post and I'm not in the mood to type more, so I'll save it for the next part.

Firstly, I want to thank you for writing this! Means a lot that others like my characters enough to make their own content of them.

Overall, it is a cute little story. A few errors and so here and there but I liked the pace. Maria, out of all of the characters introduced so far, is probably the most on. Her pensive nature and somewhat snooty attitude its pretty accurate.

Calvert didn't appear enough for me to say yay or nay on but I do think he would have introduced himself to the boy before anyone else did. He has a very friendly and happy go lucky attitude when it comes to new classmates. He is always trying to make new friends.

I'm still developing Flo right now so it is difficult to exactly pinpoint her down, but seems so far okay.

The only one I'd say is a tad off is June. She is a very quirky and eccentric girl, who dresses up daily and goes about on adventures of her own making. She more than likely wouldn't find the time to date a boy and wouldn't care to; she'd much rather have fun. She is friendlier than appearing here too, and extremely forgiving. If a boyfriend did her wrong before, she would probably give them a kind good luck and a happy smile; she doesn't begrudge. But she is clumsy so good points there.

One last note that I should probably make aware of is that I notice they are talking of memes and discord. That is fine and all but the timeline for Noel actually takes place in 2000/2001.

I look forward to what else you have in store for this story, and if you need any more information about my ocs I can go into more detail @ discord (which I can provide via pm). Thanks again and good luck!

I'll PM you my tangents, but a seeming 7.5 from 7T is not bad.
