Happy Birthday to me! I'm 37 today.
Very rough and very possible design change posted here.
I'm frustrated with the old design of my Lynx twins. They didn't quite look like a proper lynx to me.
They lack spots and markings, their ears weren't tufted enough... They were basically just yellow cats and they didn't really look right to me. It was an early design choice, and I kinda felt pressured to maintain it. When you have a design set in stone, and you're unhappy with it, it can literally make producing new art unbearable. A little change now, and in the future, a little more refining.
I want to change how I colour things, using less perimeter lines and borders, and just use a free-flow brush to swab colour for fur patches around. Like how many other artists, Dram, Pickles, Ether... they don't draw harsh ink lines for changes in chest fur colour, instead they just overlap colour. I really like the simplicity of that decision. Since I like their work so much, I thought I ought to give it a try as well.
I hope the style change that will likely appear abruptly and soon isn't going to scare everyone off. I don't like this, but the comic is still early, so lets make the right kind of changes now, before it gets even more too late.
I want to retain my "cartoony" look and style, but refine it JUST enough that a passerby can loosely identify what they are better.
New design is not set in stone.
Extreme lack in production lately. I have drama in my life. Too much happening right now all at once.
Like me taking my sister to Emergency to get her appendix taken out at 130am in the morning. Fellow co-workers getting let go at work in a great purging. A way-too-early ugly winter snowing us in. My "wonderful" father coming up for an unwanted and extended visit. Two of my brothers moving in to my house due to their lives falling apart. Previous renters not co-operating with house rules. Bylaw police checking all garbages in our neighbourhoods to see if we're worth fining or not (we have a dystopian MANDATORY recycle program, yay...), my fellow home mortgage co-owners job security up in the air with change of business ownership, me crushing my hands at work and nursing a swollen and likely hairline cracked finger, and a 2 month overdue cyclic depression kicking in. Whee!
I'm trying to use up some of my 175 hours of saved vacation time for the end of Oktober here, so hopefully I get a little bit of a break soon.
Very sorry for lack of content. I love you all.
