Hello dreamers! This is the first music I've done in about seven years!
Last week on Patreon I posted a mockup screen of CyberELF for my Seers! Toss me some muns if you want to see that.
Doing so got me on a CyberELF craze where I started spriting up character designs, which I'll also be posting to Patreon once they're actually presentable. It also coerced me to throw together some public domain instrument samples (and a few simple waves generated in Audacity) and try to do a song again!
The current spritework for CyberELF is flat-shaded and looks very 8-bit -- however, this song is more SNES-era, because that's about where I want to take CyberELF graphically. If down the road I can make it to PS1 / MMX4 quality that's where I would stop.
This is effectively the main action theme for CyberELF, which combines elements of Metroid and Mega Man. The gameplay is somewhere between both, the pacing is somewhere between both, the music is somewhere between both (i.e. varies between atmospheric Metroid stuff and WHAM BAM Capcom jams), and even the character designs and tech lore are a middle ground between Mega Man and Samus's Power Suit. Don't worry; all "scanning" is done automatically on encountering new things and can be completely ignored by the player!
It's only a prototype. I like the composition for the most part but I'm not a fan of the execution. It needs better level balancing and panning, and I think the instrument choice could be improved. Expect the version in the actual game to be more better!
