Your art may not be as crisp and refined as Miles' but it has a ton more soul and energy. Miles has gotten stuck in an infinite loop of pushing out the same images over and over and the characters he draws are the same creature with a different head slapped on.

You'll catch up to him in technique in no time

"I saw Miles DF and wasnt courages enough to talk to him. For me he is one of the great masters of furry art"

get yourself a better hero. What DF wants is only your money (i know coz i DID share notes with him) , or will you NOT agree with me that he wants OVER 1k money for a style of art others more "unknown" artists do better~? I can name you at least TWO who do.

before someone comments now like "BUT GOOD ART HAS A PRICE" - yes. Good art does have a price but not if "I" actually use your commission to grain money 2 times with it. ones payed by you, and shared with my patreon. Second, as i said, it gives some other artists with VERY similar style which draw even better (in my opinion) for way cheaper which are not only after your wallet. So Fanboys, comedown or pay Miles DFs prices IF YOU LIKE HIM THAT MUCH. But hey, i can buy me at least half a car, pay 3 and a half rents for my home or getting the newest consoles for/insteed of paying ONE of his artwork, ALL of the newest generation...

i dont need to buy myself a golden rolex watch to read the fucking time do i?

fame =/= style, brah. Also, i better have a home around me then sitting homeless at the street but telling everybody "well at least i got a artpiece from Miles DF".

Even if what you are saying is true and their only interest is monetary, it does not change the fact that plenty of people consider their art to be high quality and well worth the asking price. If you don't want to pay that much, that's perfectly fine; but there's no need to insult the people who do.

It's also rude as heck to tell someone to get a better hero just because, in your opinion, someone charges too much for a piece of art. Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it; regardless of how "good" or "bad" it is; so the whole concept of "charging too much" just doesn't hold any water if the artist is routinely getting people to buy commissions.

i just take this little line here and could print it:
"Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it; regardless of how "good" or "bad" it is" coz thats the meaning. if people are -that- stupit to pay half a car for one piece of art, its not my personal problem, its just my opinion. Again, as you said already, Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it and if they are that stupit its not my problem.

but hey we are talking about 1400 USD for a simple YCH commission pose-dude....

Hellow there! Lemme start off by saying I'm not a big fan of Miles DF's artstyle myself, so I'm certainly no fanboy of his. That being said, if there is supply and demand for his work at high a price, he is doing something right, even if we can't see it. What's going on with Miles DF is simple economics, he will keep charging higher prices if the commissioners are willing to pay for it and will decrease when demand is lower, but up until that time comes it will only go up. And why shouldn't it keep going? Because someone poor like myself can't afford it? That's a silly reason to stop hiking the price. It may be out of my threshold, but that's not a good enough reason to hate the guy for wanting to turn a decent profit when he probably does furry art for a living.

"he is doing something right, even if we can't see it."
yea, he hes using a fandom full of dipshits which thinks only with their dicks paying every price to get virtual layed coz they duno how pussy tastes. And im fucking srs about that. ever saw his multi-people ych pictures? the OCs on the pictures are fucking ugly as fuck for the most of the time. some look like someone even puked rainbow colors all over them. As long as people are WILLING to pay his prices, why would or even should miles change his prices? I can understand what hes doing, its called "marketing". its not hard to see that...

and for a personal part, im sure not fucking rich but "can't afford" his art is not the reason why i really hate this guy. As i already said with some samples, i dont just see a "good" reason why i SHOULD pay that fucking high prices if i have other things to pay like, as i said already, new gen consoles, paying my rent or even half of a car ffs. I mean, maybe i have another "meaning" of money but

If i compare ONE VIRTUAL picture (yes, you only get a virtual picture, not the original size, not the original art or like for even over 1k USD) next to a home for 3 months (or/and longer) over my head which keeps me warm and healthy, think about it.

I dont envy him, im more a realistic guy who thinks i spend my money on something which i might "need" more or actually "see its worth". 1000+ USD for just a virtual picture is sure not worth the price for the most of the people and for real, there is a difference between people who really just complain about his prices and people like me who just have a good reason. another reason would be actually that he would already be in jail coz of how many fucking copyright laws he broke (i dont need to count up now which or should i just begin to say NINTENDO and DISNEY here?) But thats another story~

Thats why i mostly dont like him, he uses other peoples characters (even commissioned ones!) to earn money with (in the meaning of you sure pay commission but he also uses the RIGHT forhand to use YOUR OC for his patreon, EVEN if it was a privat commission!). This is just disgusting, at least the way how hes doing it. thats called "cold marketing" here in my country and hated like hell.

I wanna know more about that cute cat in panel 3.  'v'

I'm really happy that your first con, as a vendor, went beyond your most-positive expectations!  That's fantastic stuff, my man!  Hopefully, the next one you go to will be just as great!

In my years, I've found that the Artist's Alley is usually a more communal place because everyone is so close to one another and you're surrounded by folks of many different levels of skill and talent. It can be really fun to s trike up friendships in the Alley, work together with the person next to you (they do great hands, you do great poses, etc.) and collaborations happen organically.

The Dealer's Den tends to be more strict, and though there is security in having a booth you know you can rely on and people can find you, you're surrounded by people who are not necessarily doing what you do and you can feel like an island among many people.

I know quite a few artists who prefer the Artist's Alley because it is its own community, always changing, and it can be fun to see who's new, who's old, and who's a staple.

Talk with the other artist's in the shows and ask them what they prefer and why. If you have another friend who is in the Dealer's Den, try sharing a table with them so that you can sell your stuff at their table (books, prints, etc.), and if you don't like the vibe there, try going back to the Artist's Alley.

i get your point! the dealers den felt more like serious business, there was less space, more crowds, and the air to breathe was worse. it´s more of a commitment to be there, whereas i was free to come and leave at the alley whenever i felt like it. still i think i should do the den next year, and if it´s for the experience alone- maybe then i will decide which i prefer in year 3!

Absolutely! :D
Give it a shot! Who knows, you may love it and thrive in the Dealer's area.
Good luck in your endeavors! :)

" as you said already, Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it and if they are that stupit its not my problem.

Are you sure about that?

" yea, he hes using a fandom full of dipshits which thinks only with their dicks paying every price to get virtual layed coz they duno how pussy tastes.

"You f--king incel! Not that that's my problem!"

" im sure not fucking rich but "can't afford" his art is not the reason why i really hate this guy.

*seatbelt on*

" the OCs on the pictures are fucking ugly as fuck for the most of the time. some look like someone even puked rainbow colors all over them. As long as people are WILLING to pay his prices, why would or even should miles change his prices?

So... Miles DF should charge less for his art, requiring him to pump out more pieces of it to make the same income, which would probably require him to spend less time on each piece which would decrease the quality of his pictures which you claim already "look like someone even puked rainbow colors all over them".

"It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him."

" I can understand what hes doing, its called "marketing"

"Marketing is used to create, keep and satisfy the customer." Note the absence in that definition of supply/demand and price points.

" but "can't afford" his art is not the reason why i really hate this guy.... there is a difference between people who really just complain about his prices and people like me who just have a good reason.

Maybe someday you'll write it down.

" I mean, maybe i have another "meaning" of money but

I would not be surprised.

" If i compare ONE VIRTUAL picture (yes, you only get a virtual picture, not the original size, not the original art or like for even over 1k USD) next to a home for 3 months (or/and longer) over my head which keeps me warm and healthy, think about it.... he also uses the RIGHT forhand to use YOUR OC for his patreon, EVEN if it was a privat commission!

I've seen The Maltese Falcon many times, yet don't own the original negatives. I can buy a copy on DVD.

Many fine artists retain certain rights to their commissioned works, including portraits of individuals.

I refuse to restrain artists' rights.

" another reason would be actually that he would already be in jail coz of how many fucking copyright laws he broke

If copyright allowed using third party characters for a mandatory royalty (and a big warning sticker), this problem would go away. But then J. K. Rowling would be getting money for Harry/Draco slash fic and Disney for XXX-rated pics of Nick and Judy.

Not happening.

Their other option would be to quash all fan works. J. K. refused, and if you think Disney just lacks the lawyers to sue 90% of furry artists into oblivion, think again.

" This is just disgusting, at least the way how hes doing it. thats called "cold marketing" here in my country and hated like hell.

"Cold marketing" is trying to sell product to someone you've never met before, as opposed to "warm marketing." Perhaps you're thinking of people who sell fraudulent products or services by cold calling (con men don't get repeat business) but cold and warm here are meaningless.

The only argument you've made that I can't punch giant holes in is, "People I hate are making Miles DF rich, and he sucks."

My reply.
