The two foals sat side by side, waiting for the conversation between their mother and the principal to end. Sirius was grimacing, upset that he had disappointed his mother. He hadn't meant to. Really, he was just trying to help and make friends with those ponies. Hazy was scowling, pissed that he was going to get in trouble.  He hadn't done anything wrong, damn it. Those punks deserved everything they got.

"Mother must be quite cross with us." Sirius bemoaned, looking at his younger brother with dismay. "What are we to do, brother?"

"Don't look at me, I did nothing wrong." He proclaimed, sitting up. "And don't call me that. I ain't your brother and Twilight ain't my mom."

"Mother is a princess, Hazy!" Sirius scolded. "A prince must show the proper respect to royalty."

"Psh, like hell, I'd do that." He retorted, much like he did anytime this subject came up. He refused to call Twilight 'princess' or 'mom'. To him, she was just another adult. Kinder than most but still untrustworthy. Sirius sighed. He should have known nothing would change, still he felt he had to try. It had been months since mother had adopted him and Hazy still treated them like enemies. Perhaps...

"Hazy, who was it that thou fought against today?" Sirius asked, wanting to keep talking. Despite being vulgar and rude, Hazy was interesting to talk to. "Was it another bully?"

"Nah, it was that fruit cake, Parfait." He tossed out, waving a hoof. "I punched him in the mouth and he went and whined to the teacher. What a wuss." He grumbled, though he didn't seem pleased with himself. Usually when Hazy hurt somepony, he boasted about it. Then again, Parfait wasn't like the others Hazy had fought.

"You struck Lady Pinkie's son? But why?" Sirius gasped, confused and feeling sympathy for the smaller foal. Sure Parfait was nosy and sometimes annoying but to punch him? That didn't seem right. As Sirius continued studying his adopted brother, a idea formed. "He found out about thou's imaginary companion, didn't he?"

"She isn't imaginary!" Hazy snapped, though Sirius didn't flinch. He was used to that reaction. Hazy always reacted like this when his imaginary friend was mentioned.

"Oh, yes, we forgot." Sirius replied, rolling his eyes. "She is just invisible to everyone else's eyes and mute to their ears. Clearly she exists." Hazy fumed, glaring at Sirius.

"The WiTcH DoCtOr ain't imaginary! I already told you this a hundred times already!" He proclaimed, stomping a hoof. "And she ain't invisible either. It's just that her physical form can't be seen in our reality due to her banishment from the eyes of the living and her voice mimic's the wind so only those who know how to listen properly can hear her. Duh!" Hazy explained, giving the older colt a look that said that this was obvious and common sense. Sirius shook his head at the explanation. No matter how much Hazy tried to explain his witch doctor, it never made sense to him. A voice that mimic's the wind? Being banished from the eyes of living creatures? What did that even mean?

"Suure... Anyway, we have no time to waste on such ridiculous notions." He stated, sitting up and trying to look like a prince. "Mother will be taking us home soon and we must show ourselves to be properly contrite."

"Well, at least I won't be the only one being chewed out this time." He snickered. "Though I'm pretty surprised that Mr stick-up-his-ass got in trouble at all. What'd you do? Trot too fast in the hallway?"

N-nay, we did nothing like that..." Sirius muttered, looking away. This reaction gained the attention of Hazy, whose smirk grew exponentially.

"Oh? Then what did you do?" He pushed, watching Veil get increasingly more embarrassed. Silence fell between them and just when Hazy was about to start guessing. Sirius opened his mouth to speak.

"You will think us strange..." He mumbled, hunching over to his his face. The look would have been funny if not for the apparent shame in his eyes.

"Vei, seriously." Hazy moved closer, lowering his voice so only Veil could hear him. "What did you do?" The older colt said nothing for a while, continuing to stare at the ground.

"We... we have been accused a harassment but this is a lie." He stated, though he didn't sound convinced himself. "The foals in question just found or continued presence around them to be uncomfortable though we hadn't bothered them at all today."

"Today?"

"Yes, we have been keeping track of this colt for about a week now, though they only noticed us today." He claimed, pouting. "Perhaps our magic is not as good as we had thought? Nay, the colt was just sharper than most, to have spotted us after so long being unaware. We will have to be more careful next time." Hazy grimaced, a bit creeped out by his brothers words.

"So wait a sec..." He said, trying to make sure he wasn't mishearing. "You were stalking some kid? For a week?!"

"Nay! The word you use is terribly horrendous." He retorted, looking more princely than he had since being sent here. "We were taught that such ponies are horrid and selfish. Those are not traits a prince should ever have. A royal would never do something so vulgar." Hazy rolled his eyes at his weak defense.

"I totally agree with all that," He stated, thinking of the few horrid ponies he'd run into over the years. Stalkers were definitely horrible but there were worse things that one could be pursued by. Though, there was no need to bring that up. "But that's exactly what you were doing though."

"Nay!" He denied, his mask of princely pride cracking under Hazy's uncaring gaze. Still, he continued. "W-we just thought that we could guide this unruly colt onto a path of righteousness if we stayed close to him. This might have required us to... keep track of his location for an extended amount of time."

"Yeah, we in the real world call that stalking." Hazy pointed out, watching the older colt flinch. Shame made his face burn but there was something else there. Hazy didn't know what it was but he felt he had to find out. "Vei, why were you following this kid?"

"We told thou already, we wished to help him."

"Vei, we both know that's a load of shit." He retorted, cocking a brow. "So why were you really following him?" Sirius stared at the ground for a long time, his attention riveted on the carpeted floor and the intricate woven pattern beneath them.

"We...I wanted to make friends." He whispered, his head falling further down.

"So you followed him around?" He asked, trying to find the connection.

"I-We thought it would give us an opportunity to become friends with somepony." He tried to explain though even he looked unconvinced. "We thought it would work but... We had to do this, brother. We have no friends other than Love and that is shameful!"

"Shameful? Why?"

"We are the son of the Princess of friendship. We should have hundreds of friends." He stated with full sincerity. "Thousands and yet we only have one! We refuse to be anymore of a failure than we are already." Hazy frowned at the prince. What was he talking about? Failure. He was a prince who lived in a amazing castle with a loving (if not somewhat distant at times) mother and a best friend who adored him. His magic was strong (though mostly chaotic), he was smarter than most and talented in various fields. This prompted Hazy to ask"

"How are you a failure?"

"We not an alicorn, as such we can't live up to either of our mothers legacies. Our magic is average, though our talent seem leans toward the less structured type mother and you use. We can't use such ugly things. To add to all of this, we can't make any friends!" He growled bitterly, his eyes misting over. For a second, it looked like the white of his eyes had turned yellow but a second later, they were completely normal again. Hazy tossed the notion away as Sirius continued to grumble. "The others here see us as a freak! As a teachers pet. They laugh at our attempts at friendship. They run from me because of my magic. They mock my lack of wings." He muttered the last part, wrapping his forelegs around himself, softly brushing his sides absently. "How much more of a failure could we possibly be?"

Hazy stared at Sirius for a minute. Boy, he really was a sourpuss sometimes. Hazy had always known this about the colt but Faust save him if he didn't dwell on things. While he sort of understood what he was talking about, he couldn't understand why it upset him. Such things never hurt him. Or he just made sure not to let it.

"Well, you could be all those things and also me?" Hazy supplied, with a smile. Sirius didn't smile back. "Come one, Vei, its not that bad. There are only like, what? Five alicorns in Equestria. You're not exactly a minority here, bud. Plus most ponies only have a hooffull of friends. I doubt there's anyone, even mom, who has hundreds of friends." He stated, shrugging his shoulders. "I would say she only has like... a dozen maybe that she writes letters to often enough to call friends. As for those assholes who call you names, fuck them!" He claimed, surprising the older unicorn. "You might be a nerd and a sourpuss but you are also the only one who accepts me despite how... brash I am. You might not have a lot of friends, but you don't have one. You have your creepy friend, Love and you have me...so don't beat your self up there, Vei." He finished, looking away with a slight blush. Damn it, he hated talking like this. It was so gross.

Sirius stared at Hazy for a second before nuzzling his cheek. Hazy shuddered, pushing Sirius away with a growl. He didn't shout but he did make a face that clearly showed his discomfort. At this, Sirius let out a shout of laughter before stifling it behind his hoof.

"Don't laugh!" Hazy said with a pout. While he usually hated being touched, he'd quickly realized how much he didn't mind being hugged by his so called family. They didn't make him feel sick at being touched. As such, once they'd realized this, everyone was quick to show random DOPA. It burned.

"We apologize, it just quite comforting to hear thou trying to cheer us up. Your words, while vulgar at some points, were very sweet. We thank you, brother." Sirius said, smiling sweetly. With a deep pout, Hazy nodded, wanting to remain tough looking.  "Plus we are quite proud of thou's progress."

"Progress?"

"Yes, after months of refusal, you have finally called mother 'mom'." He informed, watching Hazy's face burn red. "We are so proud of you, brother!"

"What?! N-no, I didn't say anything like that!" He insisted, trying to remember if he did or not. He'd just been rambling so he wasn't sure what he'd said exactly. "You were just hearin' things."

"Nay, we hear thou's heartfelt words." He teased, snickering. "Such a chivalrous knight you are under all the brashness and violence, to defend this weakened prince. Shall we ascend the highest tower in the land so that thou may fight off our dragon without worry?"

"Ugh, you are so weird!" He cried, playing fighting with his brother. Sirius laughed out loud, feigning weakness as Hazy swatted at him and his mane. While they weren't related by blood, they looked very much the part.

Just then the door to the principals office slammed open and both boys shifted in their seats. They looked fearfully over to see their mother staring forward. She didn't look mad but they knew she was. Every child knew when their adult was mad.

"Boys, lets go home." She calmly said, smiling politely as she lead them out. They trotted slowly behind her, their gazes glued to the ground. After a moment of silence, she continued. "You know, I'm not mad, right?"

She was totally mad. She was using her restrained anger voice and even the few children in the hallway could hear it. They moved out of the way, sending looks of sympathy toward the two colts. They didn't want to be them just then.

"But it appears I'll have to do more than scold you two, if this is what comes from it."She continued, her voice easing away from anger.

"T-then what are you going to do, Ms Twilight?" Hazy asked, his tail firmly tucked between his legs. He wasn't sure what he would get. On the streets, such words usually preceded brutal beat downs or worse. He wasn't sure what Twilight had in mind. So when she turned to them with a smile, his fears multiplied.

"You and your brother will be going to Camp Neverbound."

*****

A few months after being adopted, Hazy finds himself sent to the principals office (again) though this time with an unlikely companion. Sirius is in trouble for harassment and Hazy is in for beating up another student (again) though he claims it was justified. Both feel justified in their actions though Twilight it tired of this. While this is the first time Sirius has been sent to the office, this isn't the first time she's been called about him harassing other students. As such, this incident leads to twilight sending them to a special camp for troubled youths.

The illustrious Camp Neverbound.

Note: the name is a kind of tie in to a story I'm writing on Fimfiction. Long story short: a G4 pony is teleported to an alternate version of the G3 universe in which it is an authoritarian dictatorship with all kind of fun things like caste systems based on race, slavery and all kind of social inequalities. Fun fun fun times there!
