It's tough being a new artist. You don't have the best tools or even how to use them. You haven't learned all the secrets, the tiny tricks or the simple facts of anatomy or form. You haven't memorized anatomy or perspective.

What you need to remember is that every good artist once started off knowing  very little about their craft. They had to work, practice, and make mistakes - and so will you.

It won't be easy, and it won't be quick, but if you have the patience and determination - with a bit of help from people who know what they're doing already - then you, all of you, can become great.

Or, ya know, at least passable.

I'm not an artist (I'm a writer), but i do know how it feels to start submittign any form of "art" be it stories, art itself, animations, or the like. People like myself tend to criticize themselves very harshly, and sometimes it makes them think twice about submitting something. There are also times when you'll get negative feedback for a story or a piece of art, but it's just a matter of building onto yourself by keeping an open mind and listening to suggestions. Try new things, and be creative! Express yourself in your work, and it will really show!

I am starting (again) doing miniature painting.  I hope I can get passable or maybe good.

Thank you for not being one o the elitist art-snobs who make it harder for up and coming artists.

You forgot the part about letting people butt-pat ibe into thinking horrible pictures are beautiful works of art one should flood FA with and how that's a bad thing... Oh! And the debilitating effect of complacency and laziness. *Coughfataltragedy*

hmm now that I see them like this, I can't help but notice a startling lack of hands in your early works.

I would also say - never be complacent or satisfied that your work is "good enough". If you keep trying to improve, you will improve, eventually. People who say "good enough" wind up with art that looks like crappy newspaper comic art.

when I look back I see disgrace and shit... but at that time I saw greatness... that is why I remember... I can be better if I'm not good enough now...
