At the Yes 50th Anniversary concert in Staten Island last Sunday (7/15/18), I had the pleasure of meeting one of my graphic arts heroes from back in the day, Roger Dean, who made those iconic album covers for the band and who was instrumental (heh!) in establishing the Yes brand (or was it the other way around?). Mr. Dean had limited edition prints in the lobby and, not being made out of money, I didn't buy one, although I would have made an exception for a print of "Relayer," (the one with the snakes) which is my absolute favorite in his catalog. It wasn't there, and when I asked him, he said it should be in the market near the end of this year. But his do-over of the gatefold to "Close to the Edge" was there and I took a pic. I remember reading years back that this was the one piece he wanted to revisit and, now, here it is. So cool for this graphic art laddie to meet one of his mentors. Still holding out for "Relayer," though.
P.S.: Mr. Dean did NOT look his age at all. Wonder if he's been using that airbrush on himself! ^+^
