Finally redrew Lester Soundwave. He was one of my first characters and it's great to finally bring him back to modern times (as with the developments I've done, I've actually started scrapping characters entirely that seem redundant, which is quite scary). Lester's a mute Amphian born with broken vocal chords, but that device on his neck, similar to the one Lucky wears and also made by Gene Scinamal, allows him to make virtually any sound that comes to mind. He's no longer a major character like he used to be sadly, but his son Lizario takes the mantel as part of Kao's team and adventures.
1. More examples of Amphians having those "elemental" tails. I'm thinking that's just going to be a universal trait of them. Given the Amphians are all quite elemental anyway.
2. Lester's abilities were inspired by Gerald McBoingBoing actually. Though the character himself appeared in a dream.
3. Lester is probably my least developed character in that he was the only "major" character that didn't actually have a story at all and was originally the type that would "randomly" appear to solve problems for other heroes. Bullet now takes that role as she's more unique and separated from Starmaninja's stories, but now Lester has a better 'history'. There's still not much known about him though.
4. Lester is one of few Starmaninjians who has a "normal" name that has nothing to do with his powers or who he is. The other ones being Randy Fireboom, Johnathy Natural, and Melvin Holiday (not drawn publically yet), and even technically Kao Ninjaratzu (though Kao's name IRL came from the phrase "K.O." but namified, in canon, his name came from a boy who was Wolfen's best friend, Kayo). Pretty much everyone else's name has something to do with them, even if they seem "normal". Though Kiara was named purely because Kiara happens to be one of my favorite female names, it just so happens her name means "One with black hair" in Celtic....and she has black fur, so that worked out. In universe, she is named after Wolfgang's mother, Kiera, but also after one of his favorite characters from a "movie he once saw about lions", which may or may not have a lot to do with why that's my favorite name.
5. On a similar note: I thought of changing his name to DJ to reflect that, but I actually think I may end up calling someone else DJ simply cause of nostalgia.
