There were some arcade games that were designed with the coin mech on the game board or just below the screen. There was a build of Gauntlet that was done like that so people could rapidly replenish their player if they died while playing. They were not very popular with the dudes who had to FIX them however because it darn near required a complete disassembly of the console to fix the coin mech.
