This piece was inspired by a friend and fellow player in our D&D campaign, who hosted a touching short session involving a magic induced dream-state where some of the party met fallen loved ones and family for a brief moment.
My character up until this point didn't know the fate of her parents, and while she always told her self she wouldn't be surprised if both of them were dead, the shock and despair that came with learning of her father's passing still rocked her pretty hard.
In his deceased, spirit-like state of being, he watched his daughter grow into the strong and capable person she is today, always expecting her to despise him for his absence. To his surprise, she wrapped her arms around him and simply said "I forgive you". Afterwards he scooped her up and carried her back over to the party, his soul finally able to rest peacefully ;>
As they parted, Mae learned from him that her mother was infact still alive and well somewhere in the world, giving her renewed drive and purpose; to find her family, and make it whole once more.
I've learned something about myself recently; I am rarely, if ever self motivated. Instead, I tend to draw my motivation and inspiration from other people, as is pretty evident in most of my gallery, and why most of my stuff has been D&D related as of late.
I think this might be my best picture to date quality wise, and even if it isn't, I'm super proud of myself after completing it.
