i think its sad, that spike didn´t grow in high. he should grow a little bit, because as a lil chubby dragon he looks a little bit to young. if he grow a little but, he would lock better^^

For Spike it's the design. For Twilight, it gives me that "Mary Sue just levelled up"/ "We need a change to keep people interested" vibe. But I don't care anyway, I stopped after S2 and so many things happened which ruined characters for me. It's TV show syndrome, where more and more stuff is added until you wish for simpler times to return.
